The Cartographers' League

The Cartographers' League is a newly founded guild, born in the shadow of the Pathfinders and shaped by the need for a world that is healing yet is uncertain and fragmented. It consciously models itself as the spiritual successor to those famed explorers, seeking to reclaim their legacy of discovery, stewardship, and shared knowledge.

The League has been created to explore the world anew, to map its nooks and crannies, to rediscover forgotten roads, chart unstable regions, and secure safe passages for travelers, merchants, pilgrims, and refugees alike.

While the League’s stated purpose is altruistic, its founders are not blind to the realities of exploration. Lost places often guard relics, coin, and arcane remnants, and treasure hunting is considered an acceptable, if carefully regulated, extension of their work. Members are bound by strict codes: proper respect must be paid to any peoples, spirits, or cultures already tied to a site, and nothing may be taken from those who hold lawful or ancestral claim to it.

To join the Cartographers' League is to take part in something still being written, so that what is found does not vanish into legend once more.

Edicts:

  • Explore unknown areas and places.
  • Find and make new routes and passageways.
  • Promote cooperation, connection and communication.

Anathema:

  • Treat other cultures and histories with disrespect.
  • Unjustly hide your findings.
  • Claim credit or ownership for that which you did not discover or make.

In addition, members have the following edicts:

Associate Edicts:

  • Inform Core members of findings made so they may report and map them.

Core Edicts:

  • Make maps and reports so that others may benefit from your experiences.

Goals

  • Unlock character options, gear, etc. that comes from the in-universe Pathfinder Society (OOC priority)

  • Make maps and provide useful information to all residents of the Harbor
  • Work with the native/ancestral population to mediate culturally-influenced conflicts and prevent unwanted grave-robbing or improper treatment of heritage sites/objects
  • Form missions to recover artifacts or secure important sites
  • Potential training or retraining options:
    • Free Sign Language training so all WW characters have access to communication if desired
    • Favored Terrain retraining
