Saturday, 12th September '87
Billie casts a spell of truth over the factory scientist. He answers all of the questions asked, but the group can't get access to the unsafe factory.
Billie then tries channelling with a dead mouse to find where Reiji went to. The mouse's spirit leads Billie and Henry through the woods to the river, where they find Reiji's body floating in the shallows. All the colour has gone from his face.
They try to resuscitate him, but checking for a pulse, they find none. Billie tries calling the spirits to return Reiji's soul to his body. Although he feels the magic is working, it fails to find the soul.
The Sheriff arrives and starts treating the crime scene, acting as coroner, calls for an ambulance to take the body away.
Billie gets the idea to astral project into the spirit realm to find Reiji's soul. He starts weirdly convulsing and muttering his incantation before collapsing next to the corpse. The paramedics immediately move in to resuscitate Billie, but Henry intervenes, trying to assure to them that he's alright. She also manages to take Reiji's Unknown.
Meanwhile Billie interacts with the river spirit, which shows him two men throwing his already lifeless body into the river. He floats on back to where the men originated, being the factory. Billie phases into the factory and starts searching. He finds a locked room with banks and banks of supercomputers, a few computer terminals, and a table large enough for a person to lay down on.
He meets Gaagaagi at Medicine Rock with other birds, who guide him to the Great Elk. The Elk tells him that Reiji is neither alive nor in death, certainly not in the spirit realm.
Billie wakes up in the hospital with Henry at his bed side. He tells her about what he saw at the factory and what the Elk told him. He wants to go find him, but is confined by doctor's orders. Henry instead takes Vicky with her.
Billie's father comes into the room to check on him. He consoles Billie for the loss of his friend. Billie then comes out and declares his love for Reiji. Mr Dean assures him he's confused. Billie casts a spell over his dad to get the truth out of him. His dad says it's unnatural and then leaves.
In the middle of the night, Henry and Vicky approach the factory. Vicky takes the NAVI and uses it to hack open the gate and door.
Through the dimly lit factory floor, they seek out the room Billie told them of. Vicky takes a fire extinguisher and breaks in the door with it. Inside they find the back half of the room filled with rows and rows of super-computer cabinets and a couple computer terminals on the side walls, and in the centre a large table with some sort of equipment around it.
They turn on a terminal and start accessing files. Vicky clicks something and the factory outside the room roars to life. They look outside, but three cube-bots box them in at the door, but don't advance past that.
The girls continue searching for a few minutes more until the factory once again shuts down. They hear metal clanking outside the room and watch as a cube-bot is dragged away from view of the door. The other two bots turn and scoot away as a tall, humanoid robot steps into the room.
...
Robot Reiji turns and runs out of the room, straight through the factory equipment, leaving a wake of wreckage and breaking through the corrugated steel wall and fence before disappearing into the woods.
The girls make their exit and return home.
Sunday, 13th September '87
Early the next day, Henry and Vicky visit Billie at the hospital. They tell him what's happened to Reiji.
Before Billie has time to react, another visitor enters, Ms Igarashi, Reiji's tutor as she introduces herself. She tells them how Reiji spoke of them as friends and asks them to trust her.
Billie checks himself out and they all pile into the Ikeda family limousine, driven by the stoic Mr Sakurai. Ms Igarashi plays security footage on the limo TV. It shows Reiji and the three men he tried to rescue being forcibly escorted into the room with the computers and table by thugs. One by one, the three men are put on the table and hooked up to equipment, their then lifeless bodies removed from the room.
Reiji puts up more of a fight, without audio, it's unknown what is exchanged between him and the chief scientist, but it's evident they share avarice between the two of them. Then Reiji is also subjected to the equipment. Ms Igarashi also tells them that a funeral will be held for Reiji on Monday.
The group gives Ms Igarashi their side of the story and they decide to go back to the factory and start their search for Reiji.
They hike through the forest. Billie uses his channelling to find non-living entities. Through this, they come across a group of feral cube-bots, before splitting up to check the directions of the Kildown and the muskegs.
Henry and Vicky check the Kildown, finding another cube-bot, this one in good working order and conscious. The bot introduces itself as Yuki.
Meanwhile, Billie and Ms Igarashi carried by Mr Sakurai over the swampy muskegs come across robo-Reiji sitting on a marsh bank, looking at his reflection pensively.
Billie talks to Reiji and tries to convince him to come with them.
