A cult seeking power by creating undead dragons. Recently, it has split into two factions, after many turned to seeking power by bringing the dragon-queen Tiamat into the world.
The leaders are known as the Wearers of Purple, while the cultists themselves bear the ranks of Dragonclaw, Dragonwing, Dragonfang, Dragonsoul, then the Purple. These ranks apply to both forms of the cult.
Cultus Draconis (Old School)
The Cultus Draconis was founded in 902 DR when a powerful wizard named Sammaster sought to create Unknown servants. The cult has become sworn enemies of the Harpers and even oppose/threaten the Zhentarim. Sammaster is believed to have become a Lich, and despite the rise of the Wyrmspeakers, the original Cultus Draconis remains.
Cult of Tiamat (Recent)
Recently, Severin Silrajin has redirected a large part of the cult in the Sword Coast into a splinter faction: the Wyrmspeakers. The Wyrmspeakers have aligned with the Church of Tiamat toward the aim of luring the evil goddess-dragon Tiamat herself to Faerûn .
