Alagondar Glaive

Weapon

This item "called" to Phantom from within a dragon's hoard (see Shipwreck, Spirits & Scion). It is merely a quarterstaff length of fine wood in the hands of anyone but a blood-heir of the Alagondar line.

The heirloom legendary item unlocks greater power with the advancement of the heir:

  • (1st level): Glaive head appears, +1 magical weapon (+1 to hit and 1d10+1 slashing damage)
  • (5th level): Each turn, while Moving, can pass through occupied spaces as if empty (but not .end in one). This can be done for one space per the wielder's Proficiency. Employing this form of movement is distracting, however, and enemies making Opportunity Attacks will do so with Advantage (this is negated, however, and the attacks return to normal attacks if the wielder has the Savage Charger feat.)
  • (8th level): The weapon enchantment increases to +2 (+2 to hit and 1d10+2 slashing damage) and the wielder may use the weapon as if trained in the Great Weapon Fighting Style.
  • (12th level): As part of an Attack Action (and once per short or long rest) one of the following commands may be given and all allies within 30 ft may use their Reaction as follows:
    • Charge! (Reaction: Move up to Speed toward enemy).
    • Attack! (Reaction: one free single Attack with weapon-in-hand or cantrip)
    • Hold! (Reaction: effect of Dodge until start of their next turn)
    • Retreat! (Reaction: effect of Disengage until start of their next turn)
  • (15th level): The weapon enchantment increases to +3 (+3 to hit and 1d10+3 slashing damage).

The weapon has been employed to lead the troops of House Alagondar in past battles - and there may have once been additional heirloom items that worked together, enhancing each other...

For those in-the-know, the glaive was last recorded in the possession of a small group of survivors of the Sons of Alagondar, forced to flee Neverwinter in 1482 DR and last seen in the port of Fireshear - trailed soon after by rather unsavory-looking bounty hunters.

Alagondar Ring

A magic ring, worn by any but a blood heir of the Alagondar line has one property:

Catnap (self only, once per long rest)

campaigns%2F101647%2Fae4f131b-644e-4331-af58-7911aaca1ff7.png

Worn by an heir, its properties increase with level:

  • (1st level): Catnap (one creature per Proficiency per long rest, may include self)
  • (5th level): Can use Help action up to 30 ft away if can be seen/heard by recipient
  • (15th level): Proficiency on WIS saving throws

If worn by an heir also wielding the Alagondar Glaive:

  • (8th level): Great Weapons Fighting can perform one additional sweep (hit all in reach + within 5ft of main target) per turn
  • (12th level): Command-as-Attack may be used one additional time per short or long rest.

(And other properties combined with the helm - see below).

Believed to have been stolen in Luskan, then lost in the sinking of a ship in the northern Trackless Sea.

Alagondar Helm

(Not to be confused with the Crown of Neverwinter) this battle helmet appears ordinary when worn by anyone not of the Alagondar bloodline, providing one power:

+1 AC if unarmored or wearing light armor

campaigns%2F101647%2F34c8f71e-b561-4a74-b31c-0b68a7c0d244.png

Worn by an Alagondar heir, greater powers unlock based on their level:

  • (1st level): Advantage on saving throws vs. all forms of Charm and Fear
  • (5th level): (1/turn) may make a Perception check as a free action
  • (8th level): +2 AC if Light Armor/Unarmored
  • (15th level): Blindsight 10ft

If worn by an heir also wielding the Alagondar Glaive:

  • (8th level): 2nd target of a cleave attack receives full damage (all modifications as if from a primary hit)
  • (12th level): Command-as-Attack may be used one additional time per short or long rest.

If worn by an heir also wearing the Alagondar Ring:

  • (12th level): +2 Charisma
  • (15th level): Psychic damage resistance

If worn by an heir wearing the Alagondar Ring and wielding the Alagondar Glaive:

  • (12th level): All creatures hit in a sweep attack of the glaive receive full damage (all modifications as if the primary target)
(Note this allows for a total of 3 uses of Command-as-Attack per short or long rest).
  • (15th level): Immunity to all forms of Charm and Fear.

It is believed the Alagondar Helm is held within a vault with many-layered protections, devised by mutual enemies under the supervision of Dagult Neverember.
