Description
Storm giants are the tallest of the true giants to remain on the Material Plane, standing at a towering 26 feet (7.9 meters) and weighing approximately 15,000 pounds (6,800 kilograms). Their massive size and strength make them formidable beings, towering above most creatures in their path.
There are two distinct ethnicities of storm giants:
- Most storm giants possess pale, light green skin, with dark green hair and eyes.
- A smaller group of storm giants have violet skin, dark blue hair, and silver eyes, setting them apart with a more striking appearance.
Their clothing consists of fine tunics and belted sandals, emphasizing both their elegant and practical nature. When it comes to armor, storm giants typically prefer scale mail, which provides robust protection without compromising their imposing presence.
Biology
Storm giants possess superior vision, particularly adapted for underwater environments. They can see with the same clarity and precision underwater as they do in the air, making them formidable both above and below the surface.
Additionally, their lungs are specially adapted to survive underwater, allowing them to breathe comfortably in aquatic settings without the need for air, further enhancing their dominance in both stormy skies and ocean depths.
Abilities
Storm giants possess an innate affinity for magic, particularly runecasting and traditional sorcery, which surpasses the capabilities of other giant races. Their magical prowess allows them to perform powerful feats, including:
- Call Lightning
- Control Winds
- Levitate (with the ability to lift objects weighing as much as they do)
- Predict Weather
- Weather Summoning
- Detect Magic
- Feather Fall
- Light
- Water Breathing
Their bodies are impervious to lightning and thunder, even from the powerful blasts of a blue dragon, making them naturally resistant to such forces of nature. Additionally, storm giants can generate and hurl bolts of lightning, capable of striking targets at distances of up to 500 feet (150 meters). This ability is often responsible for the dramatic lightning bolts seen streaking across mountain peaks.
Some storm giants even have the unique ability to mark and claim a mortal humanoid as a sea spawn—either through a curse or by entering into a pact with the individual, binding them to the storm giant’s will.
