The Dome of the Rose was a monastery and temple to Lathander in the Ardeep Forest. It was a slender, elegantly designed building that possessed a simple grace that was not typical of its surrounding forest. Worshippers of Lathander from nearby towns and cities like Waterdeep would make pilgrimages to this temple to receive a Morning Rose.
Description
Due to the forest being deemed dangerous, the temple has been overgrown by vines and flowers. The interior is filled with armour and weapons from the ages of both Lathander followers and graverobbers who died there. The armours and weapons have become part of the great vine growths found in and around the temple.
Inside the temple multiple rooms can be found that serve as a gauntlet of challenges to make sure only true followers of Lathander can reach the inner sanctum.
The inner sanctum can be seen from all of the other rooms and is placed right in the middle of the temple. The inner sanctum holds a large Rose Dragon, a guardian of the tomb that lies there. This tomb contains the body of one of Lathander's wives from the Time of Troubles. He tried to resurrect her with his magic, but was unable to. This caused the body to stay in perfect shape, undecayed, for eternity.
