A rare and spectral creature said to haunt the forests, cliffs, and tundras of the Bifrost Isles under the cover of night, the Nóttvulpin is a fox-like spirit known for the magical blue-white flame that flickers softly from the tip of its tail.
Description
Gliding silently through the dark like mist over stone, it leaves no tracks in snow or soil. Its ethereal fur shimmers faintly, like moonlight on fresh ice, and its eyes glow dimly with a ghostly luminance. The flame on its tail pulses with a rhythm much like a heartbeat, said to be in sync with the emotional energy of nearby beings.
Though it shares qualities with the will-o'-wisp, the Nóttvulpin is not malevolent — rather, it is seen as a guide, especially to lost travelers or children who stray from home. However, those with impure intentions, fear in their hearts, or heavy guilt often see only the tail flame from afar — dancing between trees or across frozen fields — never allowed to draw close.
