Many economists consider arclode the most important material in Eochora. It is a pale, clear ore slightly more common than gold. Its value comes not from its rarity, but from its particular attunement to magical essence. Of the many methods of spellcasting, using arclodes as arcane foci is by far the easiest and most cost-effective. Stonecasting simply requires an arclode carved and shaped into particular forms, with special glyphs carved into it. These are called Conductive Arclodes. Then, it can be used for any non-consumptive spellcasting as long as the caster touches the stone. Arclodes do not have an infinite amount of magic, but even with heavy usage an arclode wand can channel spells for years before losing its power. In addition to this use, arclodes can be inscribed with alternative glyphs to expose their magical power in different ways. One common glyph can be applied to an arclode to give it the property of magic detection. Whenever a creature affected by a spell or a magical artifact touches a Divinal Arclode, the arclode glows. Finally, a third set of glyphs can be used to create Consumptive Arclodes, which can be used as the material component for consumptive spells. However, this method of casting consumptive spells is considered less efficient than other methods. Besides these uses, almost every magical item integrates some kind of arclode or arclode powder into its creation.
