You draw magic from a deal with a powerful creature, such as a devil, demon, oni, or djinni. These creatures have access to many unnatural powers, powers that are worth the costs to maintain the pact.

Experience: You gain Eldritch Pact experience if you have received a Boon from your patron or have convinced a character to make a pact of their own with your patron. 

Equipment: Some physical object that connects you to your patron, and some physical representation of the pact that you have forged with them

Complications: Something you have done has made your patron upset! They become displeased with you. 

Additional Rules: Describe your patron, an alien being with power to grant those that serve its unusual whims. Depending on your actions, your patron is pleased, neutral, or displeased with you. 

Some Eldritch Pact powers refer to Boons. 

Describe an hour-long ritual you can perform to contact your patron. When you perform this ritual, if your patron is pleased with you, you can choose any 1 boon to earn, and then your patron becomes neutral with you. You lose any boons you have if your patron becomes displeased with you, and you have disadvantage on casting spells as long as they are displeased. 

Conditions: Possessed: While possessed by your patron, you play as your patron in you PC’s body instead of your PC. All of your spell school skills are treated as level 5, and otherwise your stats are unchanged. You can’t gain experience in any skill while possessed.
