Although little is known of the actual inner workings of the order itself, it is speculated that they are a powerful group of divination sages that commune to their patron god Ael of the old pantheon. Much of their doings is a rumor, and since the assassination of Prince Ceallilye, they have returned to ambiguity and secrecy.
