The Na-Vakhti, or "Overlords", are the first true children of Khyber, who emerged from Khyber millions of years ago. These spirits, also called the rakshasa rajahs, ruled over the lesser fiends during the Age of Demons. However, the children of Siberys and Eberron, the dragons and the couatl, joined forces to rid the world of the Overlords and their fiends. The couatls gave their lives to form the Silver Flame and trap the Overlords deep beneath Khyber, where they still sleep today, insensate but still able to influence the world around their prisons.

Each of the Na-Vakhti are unique, embodying a particular concept. They are most often malicious concepts, and the strength of the Overlord waxes and wanes based on the concept they embody and its prevalence in the world.

Known Overlords

  • Ashurak, the Slow Death, holds dominion over disease and infection.
  • Bel Shalor, the Shadow in the Flame holds dominion over moral corruption. Bel Shalor is bound within the pillar of argent fire in Flamekeep.
  • The Daughter of Khyber, who embodies the arrogance of dragons and their desire to lord over weaker beings. It is often said that saying the name of an immortal brings their attention to you, and so the dragons made sure her name was forgotten.
  • Dral Khatur, the Heart of Winter, holds dominion over the cold and isolation, the fear that we will die alone and nobody will come to save us. Possibly bound in the Frostfell.
  • Eldrantulku, the Oathbreaker, holds dominion over betrayal. Has some overlap with Bel Shalor, but Bel Shalor specifically embodies somebody betraying their own principles, whilst Eldrantulku is focused on betrayal of others, and pre-existing arrangements.
  • Kan Paralesh, the Tempest of Ruin, who holds dominion over the weather, and the fear of unpredictability.
  • Katashka, the Gatekeeper, who holds dominion over life and death. It is not known where it is bound, but a group of dragons fought it in the Harvest of Pain in Argonessen.
  • Masvirik, the Cold Sun is the Overlord with domain over cold blooded reptiles. Masvirik is trapped deep within Haka'torvhak in Q'barra, where his servants Rhashaak and the Poison Dusk await his freedom.
  • Rak Tulkhesh, the Rage of War, who holds dominion over war and violence generally.
  • Ran Iishiv, the Unmaker, who embodies annihilation and entropy, and can suffer nothing else to exist.
  • Sakinnirot, the Scar that Abides, who embodies spite and the festering of wrongs into evil.
  • Sul Khatesh, the Keeper of Secrets, who embodies magic and forbidden knowledge.
  • Surash Ka, the Lurker in Shadow, who embodies the unknown and the unknowable.
  • Tol Kharash, the Horned King, who embodies tyranny and oppression.
  • Tul Oreshka, the Truth in the Darkness, who embodies the truths that we shouldn't know, that will hurt us.
  • Val Gultesh, the Shaper of Nightmares, who embodies fear itself and possibly has some overlap with the Quori.
  • The Wild Heart, who embodies the fear of nature and of wild beasts. If it has a name at all, it is one only spoken of by beasts, and it opposes civilisation in all forms. It is noted as having clashed frequently with Rak Tulkhesh, The Rage of War.
  • Yad-Raghesh, the Fallen Rajah, who held dominion over physical corruption and disease. It's corpse is in the Vale of the Fallen Rajah in Argonessen.
