Ogres are large humanoid creatures, physically powerful but on average less intelligent than humans. They are impulsive, and relatively weak-willed, which makes it possible for smaller creatures to coerce them into serving them. They're easily swayed by strong personalities, and are deeply emotional creatures, much like orcs. They love stories and songs, even if many of them are unable to grasp the themes and messages of complex stories, they're just happy to hear them. One theory presented by House Sivis is that ogres are a related species to orcs.

In Droaam, ogres use their immense strength for the good of their community and work as manual labourers.

Skullcrusher Ogres

The Skullcrusher Ogres that make up Maenya's Fist in Droaam are a different subspecies of ogre, physically stronger and more intelligent than normal ogres. Nobody knows where they came from, but it's possible that they have been magebred. Sora Maenya often refers to these ogres as her children, and it is also possible that this is literally the case.

Borunan Ogres

The ogres of Sarlona, found primarily in the province of Borunan, are generally more intelligent than their cousins in Khorvaire, and share none of their impulsivity or weak-wills. They are a stalwart, proud people, forged over time on the metaphorical anvil of common wild zones to Shavarath in Borunan. Stories in Borunan taught that the ancestors of the modern ogres emerged from a demiplane within Khyber, but became stranded on the surface in Sarlona. It is possible that the ogres found in Khorvaire migrated from Sarlona, but it is also possible that the two are actually two separate branches of the same species, with a common ancestor emerging from Khyber in two different places.
