Dandra was Tetkashtai's psicrystal, created from her determination. At some point after being captured by the Bonetree clan, Dandra and Tetkashtai swapped places, with Dandra inhabiting the kalashtar's body, and Tetkashtai being placed in the psicrystal. Dandra, being determination personified, was more able to escape than Tetkashtai was. She escaped, taking the psicrystal with her, and made a mad dash through the Shadow Marches in the opposite direction to Kalshana and Virikhad and ending up in Zarash'ak.
She met up with Geth, Singe and Natrac, spending some time with them. Some time later, after finding Natrac's severed hand, she and the others went to rescue him, where she was recaptured by Dah'mir.
She spent the journey to the Bonetree Mound in a trance, though she briefly glimpsed the events in Jhegesh Dol when Geth held the psicrystal containing Tetkashtai. She was interrogated and mentally tortured by Medalashana in the Bonetree Mound, and was later rescued by Ashi.
