Mesa

The Giant of Ardev
NPC

Mesa, the Giant of Ardev, once dwelled in caverns in the Arakhain Hills to the north of Ardev. There are many stories about her and where she came from, some of them say that a young Thavius ir'Blis, count of Ardev, freed her from a crystal prison in the hills. Others say that Thavius visited her at her cavern home and intrigued her with stories of his city, and finally convinced her to leave the caverns. Another tale suggests that she was actually driven from her home by something. Regardless of which of these (if any) are true, she won't speak of her past or her former home.

Whatever the truth, Mesa is a stone giant and a master mason and sculptor. She occasionally helps the city's stonemasons with construction projects, but it is well known that her true love is sculpted art. Her sculptures are surreal and designed to evoke feeling rather than to accurately portray something. Mesa was the hand that sculpted the statue of Countess Thalia, who was slain by the Daughters of Sora Kell, in the town square. Mesa runs a shop and sells her smaller sculptures at the market, and is an active participant in Ardev's cultural scene.
