Have you ever heard the phrase, "What's yours is mine"?
I've heard it before, but I don't think that it's generally a very well known turn of phrase within the animal kingdom, so I imagine it must've come as quite a surprise for the previous occupant of New Cyre's new mine when it was cleared out last week!
As many of you surely remember, the vulnerable livestock population in New Cyre was being decimated by a ferocious monster which defied categorisation and resisted all of our valiant attempts to identify it.
Enter the Mist Walkers, an adventuring party who's roots are from none other than our own settlement! Leading the effort was Dax'Athla, one of our resident hunters and a lizardfolk from Q'barra, who lead her party into the woodland south of New Cyre to look for our missing hunters, and to find, identify, and deal with whatever was killing our livestock.
Sadly, the hunters didn't make it. The Mist Walkers came upon the grisly scene of their murder, and whilst preparing the hunters to be brought back to New Cyre for proper burial rites, the beast attacked them!
According to my sources (the Mist Walkers), the creature was a Chimera. A magical (?) mix of different animals. This one had the body of a lion and a goat, the wings of a dragon, and the heads of all three! The Mist Walkers expertly dispatched the monster, and ensured it wouldn't be harming any more of our cows. They then searched for it's lair, to make sure that it didn't have any friends, and they found an abandoned mine!
It looks like the mine was the creatures lair, and according to Siebold it still contains viable ores! I'm not sure what viable means, but it sounds like a good thing!
Prince Oargev tells me that we have sent surveyors up to the mine to ensure it is safe, and all being well we should begin working it within a couple of weeks!
