Warforged Campaign for Equal Rights in the Cogs

Newspaper Article

An article in the Sharn Inquisitive, dated 15th of Eyre, 998 YK.

SHARN—Last week, the warforged staff members of Drummond Independents in Blackbones led industrial action to secure better pay for themselves and others.

"For far too long, Drummond took us for granted", said the warforged Stoke, who led the protest. "We work until our joints weaken and our armor is shot, until we literally fall apart. We're treated like slaves, not employees."

The strike had been going on for several hours and had started to flag, until some individuals representing the Clifftop Adventurer's Guild made their way to the scene, and joined the strike in solidarity with the warforged workers.

"I don't pay my hammers, and I don't pay my kiln. I feel I was more generous than I ought to be anyway, I don't see why I should have to pay 'forged as if they're actual people. They don't need to eat or sleep, what do they need money for?" said the owner of the workshop, Halas Drummond.

"My people deserve to live their lives, it is true that we don't need to eat or sleep, but food and shelter are not the only things one can spend money on in Sharn. We need maintenance, some of us have dependents. More than that, it shouldn't just be about surviving, we deserve to live." commented Stoke. "Our new friends from the Towers were instrumental in helping to secure our rights."

The adventurer's from Clifftop split up, with some of them joining the protest and others going to find further allies to the cause. It has been reported that they returned with a veritable army of warforged, and after a rousing speech from a lizardfolk, people of all shapes and sizes came from across the Cogs to join the protest. With a unified voice, they demanded better treatment from their employers, not just Drummond Independents, but all who employ the warforged.

House Cannith has neglected to comment.

Drummond Independents was the first, but certainly not the last, of the independent forges in the Cogs to acquiesce to their staff's request for fairer wages, and has agreed to the terms sought by those striking. The protesters have been commended for achieving their goal without violence, challenging the perception that many people have of the warforged.
