Clan Aashta has long been known as the most fierce of the Shadow Marches clans, with their ancestral home bringing them into conflict with their neighbours in Droaam. Despite their bloody history, this history of conflict with their neighbours created a sort of respect between Clan Aashta and the ogres and trolls of the Barrens, and it was Clan Aashta that began working more closely with Droaam after the Daughters of Sora Kell came to power. Clan Aashta founded the Dragonne's Roar, the merecenary arm of House Tharashk that contracted out monstrous mercenaries to the armies of Khorvaire.
Clan Aashta follow the "Old Ways" of the Shadow Marches, which are seemingly analogous to cults of the Dragon Below. The most common beliefs are the Inner Sun and the Whisperers, the former seeking entrance to a paradise beneath the earth, and the latter communing with their ancestors in the slimes and oozes of the Marches. These beliefs often bring Clan Aashta into conflict with Clan Torrn, but the two have managed to co-exist within House Tharashk for over a thousand years, likely in no small part thanks to Clan Velderan mediating their disputes.
The leader of Clan Aashta is Khandar’aashta, a charismatic half orc who is constantly pushing the house to expand its influence and power.
