Magic permeates the world of Eberron, it has many forms and all of them are used somewhere to better the lives of people living there. Khorvaire treats arcane magic as a science, and it is used in everyday life improve the quality of life of the people of the Thronehold nations. Elemental vessels allow for rapid transportation, artificers create magical items that can do all manner of things, and the Dragonmarked Houses use their unique gifts to better society and line their own pockets while doing so.
Primal magic infuses the west, primarily in the Shadow Marches and the Eldeen Reaches, where the people live in harmony and symbiosis with the natural world and influence it using the gifts provided to them by Eberron herself. Similarly, divine magic blesses the people of all the nations of Khorvaire, be it via worship of the Sovereign Host, the Church of the Silver Flame, the Blood of Vol or any of the other faiths that can be found on Khorvaire. Magic is truly as much a part of everyday life in Eberron as electricity is on Earth.
The continent of Sarlona largely swaps the use of arcane magic for the use of psionics, where a few very powerful individuals use their gifts to create and maintain infrastructure that is then usable by everyone.
