Grauwand is a district in Middle Tavick's Landing, and is considered to be the Karrnathi district. As Sharn grew during the earlier days of the Kingdom of Galifar, and its importance to trade grew with it, many merchants and artisans from Karrnath settled in the city, and congregated in the district of Grauwand. Today it's a quiet, close-knit community, where the families all know each other well. Outsiders are generally ignored, unless they are from Karrnath, in which case they receive a warm welcome, a mug of ale, and demands for news from "the old country".
In practice, the people of Grauwand are insular and maintain their culture, and the Last War has somewhat alienated them from the rest of the city. Incidents during the war have led to the Sharn Watch receiving a cold welcome in the district, and businesses will even refuse to serve members of the Watch. In general, the Watch avoid Grauwand, and peace is maintained by a small local militia that mediates disputes. The people of Grauwand are honest, hard working, community focused people, and most of them are followers of the Blood of Vol.
The House of Hazal
The largest estate in Grauwand belongs to the Hazal family, who have historically made their money in the smelting industry. The Hazals have always been community leaders in Grauwand, and their estate houses the only temple to the Blood of Vol in Sharn. The temple is open to the public at all times, and the faithful of the district gather every Zol to engage in the sacrament of blood and share in each others company. The current leader of the house is Lan Hazal, who is also a community leader within the district, and a cleric of the Blood of Vol. Lan rarely uses his divine powers, preferring to provide advice and financial support to those who are struggling, giving them the tools to take care of themselves.
The House of Hazal also stores the blood donated by the seekers of the district, keeping it in kegs of preserving pine so that it can be used to sustain martyrs of the faith traveling through Sharn.
Slogar's
One of the first families to settle in Grauwand, the Slogars have run this family-restaurant for hundreds of years, serving Karrnathi cuisine. The ambience is rather gloomy, and the food isn't fancy, but for Karrns in Sharn looking for a taste of home, there's no better place.
