Dimensional Seals are eldritch machines and magical artifacts created by the Gatekeepers over 9000 years ago, when the Daelkyr crossed over into Eberron and waged war with the Empire of Dhakaan. The knowledge to create more of these seals has been lost to time, and even the Dhakaani artificer Taruuzh couldn't reproduce them (though he came close with the Binding Stones.)
Most of the dimensional seals on Khorvaire are within the Shadow Marches and the Eldeen Reaches, and are usually located within Xoriat manifest zones. The seals suppress the effects of the manifest zone, as well as keeping Xoriat distant from Eberron. The energy of Xoriat constantly decays the seals, however, and they have been slowly deteriorating since their creation. The Gatekeepers are tasked with maintaining the seals, but their numbers grow smaller every year and they lack enough sufficiently powerful druids to perform the ritual to restore damaged seals. As they decay, their ability to suppress the manifest zones is lessened, and effects begin to break through.
Most dimensional seals are byeshk-laced dolmens, and whilst all of the dimensional seals are Gatekeeper Seals, there are more esoteric gatekeeper seals that take other forms and are maintained in their own unique ways.
Notable Dimensional Seals
- The stone circle in Bull Hollow, sometimes called the Bull Hole, which was maintained by the druid Adolan and guarded by an earth elemental.
- A dimensional seal sits beneath the Bonetree Mound.
