The Bugbear known as Karbal is the bartender and owner of the tavern "Dead by Morning" in Festering Holt. He's a relatively new arrival to the village, only having arrived at the settlement ten years ago, but his arrival marked a turning point for the village. Karbal brought with him a decanter of endless water, as well as some mushrooms called Suur that he immediately began to grow in the basement of the tavern.
The settlement was surviving before Karbal's arrival, but only in the last ten years has it begun to thrive. Pretty much everyone knows that there is more to Karbal than is immediately apparent, but nobody is willing to risk the fallout of confronting him about it.
