1st Sypheros, 999 YK
- The Behir moves around The Tombstone, who punches it in the face for the impotence. It then fires a lightning beam at the Megaprimatus Furiosus.
- Bhaltair sustains the scouting eye, and then prepares to start playing a courageous anthem if any of the others reveal themselves (as the group is all hiding)
- Warren begins trying to wiggle out of the rope that connects him to Valaari, itching to get involved in the fight. He manages to free himself from the rope, and scurries into combat
- He gets within range and throws his star knife at the behir, which slashes a funnel along its hide and then returns to his hand
- Valaari mouths "for fucks sake" as Bhaltair starts playing his song
- Tombstone does what we've all been waiting for, and punches the Behir again. He tries to reposition the Behir, but it's too big. He doesn't understand "impossible", though.
- Tombstone continues his rampage, and punches it again and again, bringing it within an inch of death on his first turn. Tombstone has almost taken it out from full health.
- Naze summons Zaphkiel, which uses his entire turn
- Valaari uses Exploit Vulnerability on the monkey, learning what it is. A big angry monkey, with resistance to electricity
- Valaari then gets out a scroll of fleet step, and recall knowledges the Behir
- The megaprimatus surges forward, grapples the Behir and then tears some organ out of its throat, crackling with electricity, which it then eats. It then throws a rock at Tombstone, which shatters against his impenetrable skin.
- Runmae struggles out of the log she hid in, and then summons a bladed shield from her armoury bracelet.
- Bhaltair continues sustaining the scouting eye, and playing their courageous anthem.
- They then attempt to hide, whilst still playing their drums. It is a critical failure.
- Warren moves up behind the megaprimatus and throws his knife, but it misses
- Tombstone advances on the monkey and swings, slugging it across the face (with a nat 20), and then follows through with another punch
- Monke anger
- Naze fires a divine lance at the monkey, which it barely notices, as Zaphkiel advances
- Valaari casts the fleet step scroll, and then runs across the cliff, leaping over Bhaltair and getting within throwing range of the monkey
- The monkey punches Tombstone, picking him up in its massive hand, and then turns to the rest of the group before firing a breath weapon through Tombstone, point blank, catching Runmae and Zaphkiel in the lightning beam.
- Ow!
- Runmae prepares a rebuttal: charging at it and trying to whack it with her shield, which fails. She's used to a longer, heavier weapon.
- She then raises that shield
- Bhaltair continues sustaining the scouting eye, and thinks to themselves "yeah, they've got this"
- Nevertheless, they should help. They cast a Moonlight Ray at the monkey, which it notices but doesn't get its full attention. Bhaltair is okay with this
- Warren runs into melee range of the giant, angry monkey, and starts stabbing. It barely even bleeds. Warren is confident he can take this monkey. Tombstone can go home.
- Warren then misses his next attack
- Tombstone frees himself from the monkey's hand, moves to flank it, and then punches it across the face (with another nat 20, 3rd one in 3 rounds)
- Naze casts Evolution Surge, making Zaphkiel Huge (still smaller than the monkey), and they move up and try to hit it but no dice
- Valaari expresses frustration at them all getting in a line when they just saw the monkey shoot a beam of lightning from its face!
- Valaari gets out of the line, and then throws their spear at the monkey, but it bounces off its hide
- The monkey picks up Runmae and smears her along the ground, before punching Zaphkiel in the face (which hurts Naze). Both do more than 50 damage!
- Runmae gets to her feet and laments that the shield did nothing to help her there. She drops it, and gets her hammer out.
- She then swings that hammer, which bounces off of it ineffectively
- She flips the hammer and tries the pointy end instead, but same thing
- Bhaltair casts a slashing gust at the monkey, opening several bleeding wounds
- Warren attempts to stab it but fails to penetrate
- So he repositions and tries again. He fails again.
- Tombstone rolls his 4th natural 20 in this combat, punching the monkey. Then punches again, and then rolls his 5th natural 20 and kills it.
- He wrestles it to the ground, pulling it down by the horns, and smashes its face into the ground until it stops moving.
- Naze immediately rushes to tend to everyone's wounds, as several people are in a real bad way
- Bhaltair remains in the bush and keeps the scouting eye going to get early warning of anything approaching
- Warren is overcome with the desire to eat the corpses. He starts trying to burrow into the monkey, to get to the good meat (the organs).
- Valaari sees this happening and is dumbfounded.
- Tombstone sees it but assumes it's just some weird meat thing
- Valaari leaves Warren to do that and starts harvesting the important parts.
- Tombstone then greets them properly, "my first fans!"
- He says he arrived here via the Pinnacles Sublime. He's been here for about a month, just fighting. Soon he'll be able to take the behemoth in the crater!
- They say "please don't"
- Tombstone asks how long they've been here? "Like a day"
- Okay! Some advice
- Tombstone explains about the Blood Moon, how everything in the demiplane goes goblinshit and rushes the crater, where the Tarrasque kills everything. Then, it all respawns.
- Respawns?
- Yeah, like, new creatures emerge from the crater
- and he doesn't know how often it happens?
- Nope
- Just during the night though
- Bhaltair is worried it's going to be close, if it happened about 3 weeks ago. They should try and not be here when it happens. Thankfully, Bhaltair can have them rest in a liminal space.
- Valaari asks how Tombstone hasn't gotten bored fighting the same things for a month?
- "Oh, there's a staggering variety of life here! Everything wants to kill me, it's great!"
- They ask Tombstone if he's seen any other humanoids since they last saw him?
- "There's little frog guys in the Abyssal Forest of Khaar. Also, sometimes the animals here turn into people after I kill them. And gnolls"
- Valaari explains they're trying to prevent the carrion tribes getting through Khyber. They give him permission to punch them.
- He asks what they look like?
- Valaari says to ask them first if they're carrion tribes.
- Imagine that
- "Oh and please tell them 'courtesy of the Ghaash'kala'"
- They're sponsoring him
- Warren's gotten through the skin and is eating the good meat. He briefly wonders if the monkey is poisonous, but decides he doesn't care
- Naze continues tending to their wounds whilst Valaari and Runmae finish harvesting the monsters
- Warren briefly surfaces, with his cheeks full of meat, dripping with red. He's covered head to toe in monkey blood. Runmae tries not to vomit.
- Bhaltair's scouting eye spots an approaching Tyrannosaurus, attracted by the smell of the corpses
- They tell the group, and then immediately try to clean Warren with a spell
- They decide to move on, before it arrives
- Tombstone tells them to go on, he's got an appointment, as he cracks his knuckles.
- Of course
- They reroute around the tyrannosaur, to avoid it, and then continue heading towards the eastern portal.
- They walk for a while, trying to avoid notice (and with Runmae covering their tracks)
- Warren has been re-leashed to Valaari
- They also consider manacling him. Bhaltair argues that if anyone can defend themselves with their hands tied, it's Warren
- Zaphkiel picks Warren up, putting him in air fail (as well as roped to Valaari)
- If combat happens, they can throw him (and pull him back)
- Warren makes eye contact with something above the group, a large, feline wyvern. He immediately tries to wriggle free, and squeals (but doesn't speak to alert the others)
- Warren gets free of Zaphkiel, triggering Valaari to go "for fuck sake, Warren!"
- Warren then tugs on the leash, and points at the monster. They all see it, and then he runs towards it
- The monster leaps into the group, attacking both Valaari and Bhaltair. It then roars, frightening everyone except for Valaari, who is hard as nails
- Bhaltair also experiences bleeding for the first time. He leaks chlorophyll.
- They respond to this by casting Mercurial Stride from the Horn of Rust, becoming liquid metal and moving real fast
- They move through the Panthormir, sickening it
- Valaari identifies it as a Panthormir as they raise their shield. They call out to the others to watch it's tail, it can throw spikes!
- They then attempt to demoralize the panthormir, but it's not fazed. Failing that, it's stabbing time
- It's a pretty effective stabbing
- Naze casts a Divine Lance at the monster, as Zaphkiel moves to engage. Zaphkiel then attempts to hit it, but it dodges
- Runmae rushes in, despite her fear, and swings at the beast, but it slips out of the way!
- She then tries again, but nothing changes
- Warren jumps onto its back, shifting in midair, and bites it.
- Yum
- The panthormir flourishes its tail and pins Runmae to the ground
- It then tries to bite Valaari, but they block it with their shield. The panthormir then leaps over Valaari and Runmae to get behind them, causing Warren to flail about on its back
- Valaari catches it with their spear as it goes overhead, Runmae and Zaphkiel try to but it avoids them both.
