The events of the past few days have been a lot. Fighting the weretiger, the walking through the most dense, dark forest I've seen, Yash and Damien being pretty badly injured... exhaustion doesn't come into it. I am not sure how we made it out, I keep replaying parts of it in my head, trying to see if there would have been a way to do things better, change the tide somehow. But the poor sleep brings a certain level of numbness that tears away at everything else. I had thought I would spend some time at night writing down some song lyrics that had been lazily emerging, half formed, in my head. But, I am no further to writing than before I had left Sharn. But at least in Greenheart there's some comfort. A full stomach, a few herbal wines, pleasant conversation and cleaning the blood, mud and forest crap off my skin and I feel almost human again.
Although I did manage to get some energy for this party the druids threw. I didn't expect a party, even if we technically saved the world. I didn't expect seeing Ban! Or Drego for that matter. It was a flurry of emotions but definitely glad to see Ban back. I've missed him. And his cooking. Nerys's cooking is...very strongly flavoured, it's nice enough but the strong flavours are a bit much for me. It's not spicy like Yash's food but it's just, strong I suppose. Damien's cooking would probably be better if he waited for everything to cook through properly, I don't know how that man doesn't have food poisoning. Ruckus...I am not letting him cook in my apartment. Sorry, Ruckus but no. I really don't want to discover what in my kitchen is flammable. Yash's food...was consumable but I can't really remember what she cooked as everything was so heavily spiced, it was like I was tasting fire. And mine...doesn't seem to matter how hot I cook it, it always cools down very quickly. Sacred blood, do I want to taste his pancakes again. They were always perfect. And Ban is just a little ray of sunshine poured into a halfling mould, how can I not be happy he is back?
And Drego. Drego unnerves me slightly. So he scried on us (which is seriously kind of cool, although I hope he wasn't just...watching us sleep...or any other activities that were not stopping the zoanthropic apocalypse) and he did subtly indicate he knew I did necromancy. The words had the element of a threat to them, like it was a gentle silver thread weaved through silk, glinting menancingly in the warm light. Everytime I see him perform magic, even in the casual passing way that he does it, it's fascinating. Part of me would love to ask him a dozen questions on the techniques he employs, who taught him etc but...well...it never feels like the right time. Especially when Damien doesn't like him and Yash...
Okay, so, I am going to congratulate myself on calling that shit. I knew there was something there. I kind of wish that we had managed to find this out in a more...delicate way than Damien and I barging in and ruining their moment. I don't know the full details but the list of things I need to make up for feels to grow. But Yash really seemed flustered but I was kind of worried that it was less going to be a quiet moment together and more like a Medani murdering some...higher up Silver Flame official. One's a diplomatic incident that could ignite a powderkeg and the other is a sweet little moment between two people that I stuck my foot in it. Well, Damien and my foot...feet? I mean, I could still be misinterpreting everything...but I hope the next thing is something I am not.
We had a moment, quietly. He seemed so out of his usual...joie de vivre (to borrow the Aundairan). So, we went for a drink in a quieter spot. I should have realised sooner that being so close to one of the biggest names the Eldeen Reaches seceeding from Aundair as an Aundairan might be awkward, especially when actively confronting the propaganda that you got force fed as a kid against reality. It's a process but you have you embrace it and he really seemed to appreciate my words. He's been a bit more close to me since. I am not sure if it's the wine or if I dare hope. It's always the hope that gets you but I choose to live in hope, even if hope has the sharpest knives and the sweetest poison.
Nerys is also quieter than normal but with everything else, I never seemed to find them alone to talk to them. That and...admittedly...I didn't especially want to leave Damien's side much either. He's just really nice to talk to, even if nothing comes of this. Those brown eyes, the soft blonde hair, the elegant way he holds a wine glass Charlie concentrate! However I am a little worried about them. That spell they unleashed was a doozy and they don't seem much the same since.
I have barely seen Ruckus since getting here. I saw him talking to Ban earlier but seemed to be keeping out of Drego's way. I hope he's alright...
I should probably get some sleep to avoid a hangover. I think we're heading to Passage which has some of Damien's family...I'm sure that will be fine.
