General Stream/Recording Rules
This is just a simple rule set to cover off some plain and simple streaming/recording etiquette as this will be published and accessible via Twitch and Youtube. These will also be linked via Twitter, Instagram, and Facebook as well.
1. Language
Swearing is allowed and it’s going to happen. However, do please be mindful of the frequency and by chance the word choices.
Viewer discretion will be applied to the videos once uploaded.
2. “Rules Lawyering”
DM'S word is law...Instead of arguing let's just keep the ball rolling alright?
3. Mic Silence
During the opening of each session there will be an introduction which will have a recap. This can be done by the DM or it can be done by a player should a player wish to do so.
Please also be mindful of what you might have playing the background. Copyrights are a thing and we do have agreements already with two lovely musicians.
4. Back Channeling
Back channeling the DM is allowed. Especially if there is something a player wishes to do but can’t get a say in. That way the DM can line it up for the player RP or not. However, in character back channel conversations are not considered valid.
If a player wishes to have a conversation with another Player, or an NPC, in private with no other ears present, a “Private Character Chat” voice channel has been created for this purpose. The same goes for any DM insights checks or hidden messages. These will be in the “DM whispers” voice channel. That way all conversations can be recorded vocally as part of the story without the meta knowledge of other players.
Combat Rules
A standard set of rules being tacked on to the already established combat rules. This will just make things a little more interesting and add some flavor to the scenes.
But remember whatever goes for the player, will also go for the enemy.
1. Initiative
Nat 20’s and Nat 1’s will have some affects to the initiative rolls. It’s pretty simple and is as follows:
20 |
Advantage on the first attack |
1 |
Disadvantage on the first attack |
2. Attacking
Standard attacking rules for everything. However,
20 |
Max damage + Roll. If the damage type is bludgeoning select something to break. If it is slashing select something that is cut off. |
1 |
The DM will roll a D100 change die. Anything below 50 will result in a Critical Fail card. Anything above 50 and nothing happens. If a card is needed the player will have to roll a d52 |
3. Magic
If a counterspell is used on a counterspell there will be a surge of wild magic. It doesn’t matter what level either of the counterspells are at, the wild magic surge will take effect. The effect will be based on the types of castors the individuals involved are and narrowed down from there at random.
If a castor has run out of spell slots, then they may dip into levels of exhaustion as part of their spell slots accessibility. For example; a level 1 spell slot would be a level 1 exhaustion level 3 would be three levels of exhaustion. This will add some RP elements as players will be “drained” of their magical energy.
4. Death Saving Throws
Death Saving Throws can be made by the player or they can be made by the DM upon the player’s request.
If the DM rolls the throw for the player the roll will remain unknown and the throws will be tracked by the DM. The player may request the current state and the DM will describe how close to death the character may be to the rest of the party.
Levels of exhaustion will be used depending on the injury received, how many throws made, and the overall battle circumstances. Refer to Lingering Injuries.
Death saving throws will also be applied to enemies unless a player clearly describes a lethal finishing blow.
Reincarnations are an option should the player choose to do so. They may take on the same race but a different class, or the same class but a different race. This is a conversation to be had between player to DM.
When revived, the player can take up to two levels of exhaustion depending on how many failed death saves there were.
5. Potions
Potions of any kind can be consumed as a bonus action. Clean cut and straight forward.
6. Lingering Injuries
Yes ladies and gents, just because one goes down does not mean that there won’t be lasting repercussions beyond the death saving throws. If the damage received surpasses by ten or more current HP they must make a roll.
A player who dropped to 0 with exceeding damage will be asked to roll 1 d10. This d10 result will be based on the type or types of damage received.
All injures can be cured in one way or another.
Character Development
Character development is a must! There are many different ways for this to occur but ultimately it is up to the players what their characters will and won’t do.
1. Feats
Feats can be taken at the normal level ups as per the class level ups. However, feats can also be earned and worked for.
If there is a feat a player wishes to obtain, they may train into that feat. This can be by training with another player or NPC who has the feat or on their own as a roleplaying opportunity. The player must clarify that they wish to train in order to get the feat.
Depending on the feat, the DM will decide the timeline it will require in order for the feat to be obtained.
Those who gain patrons, may obtain the feat that way.
2. Patrons/Deities
All players are applicable to worship a
deity of some kind. There are no limitations. Those who chose to worship a
specific god, goddess, or other figure may be granted blessings or favors
following the Piety guidelines outlined in Mythic
Odysseys of Theros (page 36).
3. Creations
Players are able to create their own unique spells, weapons, potions, and more. The catch is that the DM must approve of the stats before allowing the player to use it within the game. These creations can be made during any point of downtime.
4. Education
Education is key to anyone wanting to expand ones knowledge. There are many ways to earn a little something extra upon DM’s discretion. What that may entail, well it depends on what you as the player will do
Players can do this in many different ways.
Type of Training |
How or Where |
Clerical Training |
Temples and Medical Facilities |
Knight Training |
Joining an army or training at an army base |
Monk Training |
Monasteries |
Trade Training |
Enroll in school or learn from a master |
Magic Training |
Enroll in School or Trained from a master of the field. |
Players may learn from another player who has the feat or ability. They may also learn from an allied NPC.
So on and so forth the list can go on, but these are the basics. Basically you need to learn things from someone else. This is for any tool proficiencies and language proficiencies as well.
5. Inspiration
Inspiration can be awarded to players at any given moment!
· Do something cool in combat
· Do something RP that makes the DM do the surprise Pikachu face
· Have an awesome team building sort of moment
· Send the DM anything character building or background related
· Post art/music related to the character
Everyone starts out with inspiration at the start of the campaign.
The Pokemon game is when a player finds a Pokemon hidden within the map. These points of inspiration are given to the player rather than the character. The player may use this inspiration at any given time for any of their characters between campaigns or one shots.
