Mandolynne was raised in the mountains near
Gyle on the border of Reedley and Eifenlana among a shamanic tribe of goblins.
The elders Sitare and Bongoe taught her to commune with spirits and noticed her
lineage tied her to a fire spirit they communed with in dreams. Occasionally
villagers from the towns below would come to seek healing or guidance from the
goblins and thus Mandolynne grew up with a great respect for her inherited
family. Eventually with the guidance she was given she was able to summon a small
fire companion "Dwindle" and make use of her inherited and learned
powers. During downtime she would explore the area or go out into the world if
requested as she looked “mostly human”.
At the base of the mountain, the village was
growing more prosperous and seeing more and more trade. Whispers of the nearby
goblin encampment however made incoming merchants/sailors restless and they
went to the mayor with their concerns. The mayor, Mortimer, expressed that they
had a great relationship with the shamanic goblins but was met with resistance. The next week
while Mandolynne was climbing to the top of the mountain on a multi-day
journey, a raiding party pillaged the village and left not a single goblin.
There was almost no blood or signs of significant struggle. She processed the
loss by burning the camp to the ground and screaming out into the silence of
the night where things had once been chaotic and beautiful.
As of right now she has no clues as to where
her family went so she has spent time training and searching. She also knew
this would be an expensive journey where she’d need help so she set out to make
money by the tournament. Mandolynne has a hard time trusting humans now and has
been living relatively secluded from others.
