Lilly Lichen

Player (MimeTrix)

Beyond the World

Lilly Lichen lived a simple life. She was born of strong powerful sorcerers and was deemed as a potential prodigy like her older brother. Although her brother was strong with magic like his parents, Lilly was a different story.

Lilly was never able to use her powers. She had always wanted to be like her brother as she watched him cast charms and spells. However, no matter how hard she tried the hidden power surging within her blood never awakened.

Her parents grew worried over their magicless child. They tried many methods to try and awake the gift. Their efforts proved to be meaningless. No matter who they saw, what enchantment they spoke, there was nothing they could do. She was deemed a normal human child.

Although she was never going to cast magical spells, she was still able to live a happy life among the others in the Sorcerer community. She lived high in the mountains with her family. When her brother came of age, she watched him travel to distant lands helping many in need. She was jealous that her brother was living a life she had always wanted.

As she grew older, she worked with her father in the castle high in the hills as the royal Sorcerer to the King. As her father’s apprentice she had vigilant knowledge of the magical world she could never be a part of. However, she was well recognized for her extensive knowledge in this world especially at such a young age. Although there was a part of that world that still was unknown to her. That world was back magic. A type of magic her father refuses to teach her.

Lilly and her father returned home, but what they had expected to return home to was the opposite. Their household that stood high in the mountains was once a peaceful and warm place to be, was covered in a shroud of grey. Blood stained the door. Beyond the door was something that haunts Lilly to this very day. Her mother, ripped to shreds, her quartz wand broken in her hand. The sheer horror in her eyes gazed into Lilly’s as the two soon learned that they weren’t alone.

In the corner was a beast, a creature so massive with blood drenched fur. It’s piercing yellow eyes stared at the two of them. Lilly’s father was quick to push her out of the way and pull out the ruby encrusted wand. However, in that moment the beast struck. He did not have the time to cast anything and fell victim to the jaw of the beast.

Lilly screamed at the sight. She froze in complete fear as the wand was less than a feet away from her. Her father was completely helpless. She began to yell at the beast to stop. Over and over again, but the beast didn’t listen. She raised her voice and screamed at the top of her lungs. In the sheer moment, lightning appeared all around her. The uncontrollable strikes emitted from her body and filled the room destroying anything surrounding her.

In pain the creature lunged at her and struck her down with a bite. However, Lilly continued her screaming which prevented the beast from killing her. She had won as it ran off. The blood pooling around her as the world began to grow darker and darker.

She awoke in the castle of the King where she was being taken care of. Knights had found her and had brought her in for medical attention. She was barely alive by the time that they had arrived. In the end she was alive. Her father had succumbed to his wounds and her mother was gone.

Lilly remained in intensive care. She was able to heal at an impressive rate to which she believed was due to the awakening of her powers. Her brother, was never to be found or heard from. She was alone. As time went on, Lilly began to learn that there was more to her than she realized.

After more than a month had gone by, Lilly had found herself in a forest. She was lying on the cold hard ground completely without clothes. She was covered in mud and brush. However, what scared her the most was the blood on her hands and face.

Time went on and the event happened again. Lilly knew that something was not right about her. She tried to find the cause. Upon countless of hours, there was nothing she could find in any of the books that her father had kept in the castle. However, there was one book that may have the answers to it all. It was the book about black magic that her father kept locked up.

Lycanthropy. The very beast that had killed her mother and father was a product of the curse. The vivid picture was the same type of creature she saw in her home. As she learned about the curse, she had come to terms that she too had fallen victim. She was a werewolf. She wanted to try and see if she could keep the power in check, but it was no use.

She began her search to see if there was a cure. In her search she began to grow her newly awakened powers. Years went by as the curse had begun to grow more and more along with her. Signs and symptoms began to appear as brief memories clouded her mind. Her body began to change as she was becoming more and more like the beast she was cursed with. Her ears became pointed, and her senses became heightened. It won’t be long before she is no longer human. She grips unto humanity as much as she can trying her best not to lose control and to find a cure.

When Lilly was 18 she was hired on alongside fellow adventurers to save a garrison. Although she wasn’t confident in her own skills, she believed that with the help of her new friends she could do anything. As weak as she was, she believed in her friends and the power of their friendship would overcome any challenge. The story goes…

After leaving the village where you were all recruited for your unique skills, you ventured forth into an overrun garrison to gather intel or reclaim it. You went through many struggles such as being transported to a new world, fending off forcibly cosplayed goblins, murdering a hellhound, and each having to overcome a weakness. In the battle you all fought valiantly but eventually fell to the powerful second form of the butler, who sought to recruit you forcibly as nakama after weakening you all in his garrison. Luckily, an ally turned enemy was blessed by enough luck to focus on her primary target and with her las energy tore the throat of Gerard the “butler”. The village rewarded you all handsomely with 1000 gold, and an item made by the legendary blacksmith village nearby. Some of these items had additional advancements. You have also been given permanent run over the garrison and may select handpicked soldiers to fill it in order to defend the border.

A full moon pendant was given to you by the elder in the garrison. “I have cured you but your curse is also a power. Should you choose to embrace it, this will grow with you.”

In the end she had come to learn and have some control over the curse within this journey and save everyone from the butler. However, when given the opportunity she had the curse lifted by the old man of the garrison.

Lilly spent many days and nights working on her skills and honing her body. She learned to control the power of the moon pendant that was bestowed upon her. With her curse lifted, she lacked the overwhelming strength she relied on. Overtime, with the pendant around her neck, she learned to rely more on her magic than her wolf form. In her time of need she embraces the power of the wolf and harnesses the incredible strength that once was within her.

Her journey continued and she parted with her new found friends. She searched for her long lost brother only to learn that the very wolf that had attacked her many years ago was her brother. In her journey, Lilly was traveling through a forest and came across a pack a large wolves. Although her sense of smell wasn’t as strong, it was still better than that of a normal human. It was a sweet smell in the air, one that made her remember her childhood. The eyes of a wolf met her and that’s when she knew it was him. It was her brother Sage. The two of them fought. Lilly, using the pendant’s power and her newfound skills as a sorcerer, was able to fend off her brother and escape. However, she did not leave unscathed. A large scar to her leg will act as a reminder of their encounter.

From then on, all she wanted was to save her brother from the darkness and to get rid of the beast that was within him. It became her goal to find him once more and save him. Even if it meant sacrificing her own life for his.

She wanted to understand what her brother went through to bring him to where he is. In order to do that, she needed to understand the full effects of black magic. Going against her father’s wishes, she began to research the ways of black magic and learn the skills that it can provide. A new struggles rises within her as she tries to resist the temptations of black magic. The looming voice beckons her to the darkness but she hangs on tightly to the light.

By using other magic more often than black magic, as well as the pendant, she is able to resist the full effects of black magic. However, if she uses black magic too much, she begins to enjoy the power a little too much.

A way Lilly tries to avoid the call of the darkness is by not using magic at all. Unless absolutely necessary, Lilly will try to find other means of solving problems and fighting without the use of magic. She will continue to study and practice magic, but she refuses to become like her brother. In order to do that, she trained her body and learned how to fight and hold a sword. However, she will never abandon her true calling.

After some time passes, Lilly returns to the garrison and reconnects with her old friends and meet some new ones.
