The party was gathered under the orders of The Dominion. After being picked up they were brought before the iron gates of The Cathedral of Hope. Here is where they met their Vassal, Agent Nissa, and Sister Annabelle Theresea Alamante who would assist them wherever they would.
Nissa welcomed the group to their new home and escorted them down to the living quarters. Downstairs, the room was a different realm filled with high tech walls and holograms. In the EHM room, Nissa debriefed the team on the direction of their mission.
She explains that the Dominion has been keeping eldritch rifts under control up until recently. Within Sector 13 there has been a rise in activity at present. Citizens were escorted but there are a few that still remain which meant that it is the Dominion’s responsibility to protect them. Several sites have been identified. Common factors of these sites are: Dead Bodies, removed portions of the bodies, and blood sprayed everywhere within the space. The connection between the sites relates to eldritch rifts and unknown creatures attacking and being present.
The group is tasked to investigate the sites and figure out what is going on at the time of the events taking place. They are also tasked to investigate the creatures that have been sighted as well. The Dominion designed the special OPS team in the hopes of preventing further eldritch rift disturbances.
Nissa gave each of them a golden bracelet that grants them access within the facility and informs them of any additional support they can assist with should they need it. Annabelle took notice of the Detective’s book that he kept close to his chest as everyone turned in for the night.
Jayre Retto was the first to attempt to gain access to the computer system to investigate the current files that have been reported. After some struggle between some of the party members Kurusu was able to use the bracelet and turn the computer on. Now with access, Jay started to flip through the files to review the sites that have already been investigated. Kurusu confirmed, with the images, that whoever was removing the body parts wasn’t doing it cleanly. The detective Abraham was able to speculate that these were not ritualist behaviors that he was used to. Hana noted that there were no tracks present in any of the images.
After their investigation, the team decided to split up. Kaiou, Yorgan Von Strangle, and one of the twins (Elara and Alara) stayed behind while Kurusu, Jayre, Abraham, Hana, and the other twin went out to one of the fresher sites. Once at the site, they saw the blood as mentioned in previous investigations, but this time there were words written on the wall. “They rise”. With Jay lighting the way, Hana and one of the twins found a dog tag of one of the agents indicating the out of the 4 bodies recovered, at least one was an agent of the order. Jay was able to use his senses to pick up on a strange magical aura that was still lingering in the air.
Jay mentions to the Detective a theory that those behind the disturbances might be using the sector for a larger scale ritual while he reflects on the eldritch creatures that could have been the ones causing this and relation to leylines. Jay calls on Hana to take a look at the writing present on the wall. She realizes that the words were burned into the stone by some sort of magic after the blood had exploded within the site. She theorizes that someone tried to summon something and got a little over their head.
After taking some photos Hana called Nissa after receiving a text from her. Nissa informed her that they were able to identify the bodies to a certain degree thanks to the help they received from one of the twins. Two of the bodies were agents while the other two bodies were eldritch beings. A Class C were being and the Class B eldritch creature.
The twin present at the site collects the blood present on the ground in six different viles to test later in the lab. She gives the Detective one of the viles. The detective pours the vile and uses magic on it to test it. The blood reacts to the spell and coagulates in a slime like formation while Kurusu bends the blood to try and take a shape. The humanoid shape of the blood reaches out to her before the form loses its shape. Kurusu, out of excitement creates a blood pillar and freezes it. However, reacting to her magic causes the blood to splat onto the ground in a thick slimy texture.
The twin out on the site, speculates the blood being mixed in with humanoid blood. Aware of previous research being conducted and identifying were-creatures as a possibility to expand their investigation with. She collects some fur around the area as well as some dead rats. While she was collecting, she came across an eldritch creature known as a Corpse Hunter. After giving the thing scritches, the cat like being jumps into a can and knocks it over to reveal an electronic tablet.
Jay investigates further the arcane nature of the rift that potentially was present, and the words burned into the wall. He wasn’t able to grasp on anything further, but he was able to speculate that there was a rift present, just unsure of how strong it was.
Hana inquires about the tablet which prompted Kurusu to grab the tablet and try some passwords. The twin advises that they should wait until they return back to the base before trying any further passwords.
Hana and the Twin do one more walkthrough of the site to ensure that there was nothing else that they had missed. The twin does notice the corpse hunter meowing and rustling in the trash for a big fish.
After concluding that they had completed their investigation they all decided to make their way back to HQ. The cops guarding the site were quickly taken out before them by a long limbed, tall, grey skinned, bone thinned creature, with a hole for a face. This was an undocumented eldritch creature and one that no one recognized.
They fought the creature using efficient teamwork and subdued it within thorns produced by Kurusu. In its dying breath it said “The creature will come and he will rise”. Kurusu investigates the body of the creature and determines that it was from the rift. She was able to determine that this should be classified as a Class C eldritch, but the speech capabilities would be Class D or higher leveled eldritch being. The Dominion cleaners were called in and the body of the creature was contained and brought back to HQ.
After ensuring that the cops were ok, the team followed the containment truck and were welcomed home by Annabelle presenting home warming gifts from her collection.
