The Past

The Blood King was once a ruler thousands of years ago. He rose to glory by spilling blood and earning his name through the lives he had taken. Many believed in him and were loyal to his ways. The blood that was spilled allowed for miracles to occur. Longer lives, stronger bodies, and powers beyond anyone’s imagination. People hungered for the abilities that he was able to grant them, going as far as to call him a God. He brought forth a new age of power and fathered the House of Blood. His children, born under the Blood Moon rose to be formidable eldritch kin. Scourgeborne they came to be called, dominated over most eldritch beings. The Blood King was creating a kingdom of loyal eldritch to control, but he wanted more.

Five other competing houses were created during his reign. House of Famine, House of Pestilence, House of War, House of Death, and House of the Void.

He partnered with all houses except for the Void and created the rift portals that would be purely under his control. His goal was to create a new powerful body and ascend into Godhood and expand his rule. However, Death and War betrayed the Blood King by creating The Dominion and the Ceremony of Creation was disrupted. The eldritch houses that were responsible tore his body apart and drained him of his blood. Chaos ensued between all of the eldritch kind. Uncontrollable madness spread far and wide. The House of Blood fell, but the remaining members banded together to finalize the ceremony with the assistance from The House of the Void. Using what they could, they conducted an incomplete ceremony. Their actions and sacrifices created the unstable rifts we know today. With the desires to expand their reaches, eldritch kind spread across many realms and universes. Some harnessed the powers of the rifts, while others sought to close them.
