Murbak - also known as the Blue God, The Tide Mistress and the Whispering Echo - is a god mentioned in Viktor Welsh's 'Lost Gods‌' book.

She presents as a hybrid between a yuan-ti and a quotl with light blue scales and dark blue wings. She is often depicted wearing shells, gemstones, scraps of seaweed and silk and often has two-tone hair and lips.

She is associated with the sea, the rain, ice, fish and cold-blooded creatures, deception, intrigue, gossip and luxury items. Shells and pearls are often left out by jewellery makers and fishermen alike. Whilst her influence regarding water is officially recognised, much of her worship is unknowing - it is possible that the slang term 'fishwives' and 'something fishy' comes from her love of gossip and lies. Each gossiper and liar unknowingly makes a prayer when they say they loved a terrible meal or spreads a rumour. Whilst truth and justice are important to others, Murbak is as volatile and unpredictable as the sea and likes to see rumours ripple as much as water.

A myth that involves Murbak is that of Kalazan, a lost lizardfolk fisherman. Kalazan had been fishing without much lunch for seven days off the Sword Coast before pirates stormed his ship and threw him overboard. Thinking that his life was over, he was surprised when he landed in the court of Murbak. The merfolk that attended the god gave him air to breathe and Murbak invited him to her table as a guest of honour. During the evening, he told her of how he ended up as a fisherman and of the pirates that nearly killed him. Murbak gave him a smile before saying she will get him a bigger boat and ensure that these pirates do not bother him again.

She took Kalazan up to the local town before turning into an unrecognisable old man. She left him on the pirate ship and told him to act as if he owned the thing and if any pirates came back, simply draw them a glare and she will sort it. The disguised Murbak went into the tavern where the pirates were acting rowdy. She then told anyone that would listen that there was a powerful wizard called Kalazan who pretended to be a fisherman that was a friend of hers that he was missing. The pirates sneered that they had killed him and didn't seem powerful to them. She then smirked and said he was a lich and death only makes him more powerful. She wandered outside and waited. One by one, the pirates walked back to their ship when they saw Kalazan, quite alive. The feat itself scared many of them away but some of the more cocky pirates tried to board the ship to kill him. As instructed, Kalazan glared at the closest one and the pirate dissolved into water. The others ran for their lives, leaving the ship behind. Murbak told Kalazan that people would leave him be and that the pirate ship was his now.
