You are asked to track down and retrieve the judge called Ornithalus, an extremely old elven judge in the city of Athkatla. You are warned that the city has outlawed magic.
On route to Athkatla and stay overnight in an inn. You throw salad everywhere and the place is kinda depressing ngl.
After travelling across country to Athkatla, you found that the city was under siege by the Council of Five, an oligarchical group that oppressed the people and where magic was illegal except when in receipt of a specific licence. You decided the most logical way to meet the judge would be in court. Elly then cast very obvious magic in front of the people and was arrested and met Ranni Tinsmith, a nun and cleric who isn't afraid to whip up some controversy with her flouting of the law...and a whip. Mazosi, Dewi and Sybill decided to act as Elly's defence in court against the people. Whilst planning, you meet several people at the Bag O Nails including Tanith who advises that Victor - the head of the Synergy Group - was once a professor and she had attended his classes a long time ago. They were starting to win over the judges when the Resistance broke in and spirited the group away. You then meet Trevor who offers up a deal - you help them overthrow the government and they will hand over the Judge quite happily. You agree to this.
The first act was to break into Spellhold and break out all the prisoners and "patients". You discover that the prisoners have been used to create chimeras; creatures part humanoid and part something else. You find a harpy you call Force who you later find out is Marko's fiancee who disappeared. Their reunion is bittersweet. You held upstairs and kill the first of the Council of Five, Tybold Woolfbane. As he died, mist emitted from him which you believe may advise the other members of his death.
You go back to the hideout with the fortress on fire and you find the judge's son - and the husband to the second Council of Five, Balanryia - Ornathalas Jr. He asks your help in getting rid of his wife as there is no love between them, he was kinda pushed into it by his father and she scares him. You agree and head to his house (which you now own?) and find Balanyia and her demonic patron. You execute her and collect the judge. You travel back to Synergy Group to dump the judge then head back to finish the job. This marks the point that I broke the economy, you're welcome.
The third council member was Eyvalynn Kip-Brightford, head of the merchant's guild and bright young thing. After investigating, you find that she has been dead for a while and whatever Eyvalynn was now, she had told the servants to go what they were told or their children - imps in disguise - would be killed. You killed the Erinyes and the imps.
Heading back, you meet again with Trevor and that after interrogating some jellicle cats, you know the way into the Thieves Guild. After giving the password, most of the thieves make a run for it - advising that the head of the thieves guild and fourth member of the Council of Five Ruben Roster had gone mad. After battling spiders and riddles, you catch up with him and Ruben suggests that Trevor wants power himself. Trevor rebukes this and you kill him.
The final step was the final member - head of the Church of Cyric - Quintell Marcious. On route - with Ranni and Raphael in tow - you are given a vision of Waukeen, goddess of wealth whose cathedral had been overtaken by Cyric. She believed that the only way to end the group forever would be to trap their souls in the gems from her jewellery. She hands you some and you do battle. You see Quintell resurrect the four slain council members and pull them into a fleshy abomination. You successfully kill the abomination and Quintell before soul trapping them. The broken statue of Waukeen rises up and rebuilds itself, taking the gems and putting them back in place.
Trevor cannot thank you enough and can barely believe they succeeded. He pledges both himself and the people of Athkatla - once the dust has settled - to fight in whatever cause they see fit in the future, You walk the streets and you see the place filled with joy, with relief, with hope for the future and you feel all fuzzy and warm inside knowing that you helped create this brave new world.
