Market Bridge
The Market Bridge is the only bridge over the Tobol River in the Gate Ward. It is very wide bridge and dates from before most of the city. It is called Market Bridge because there are shops and carts all along it. It is one of the biggest markets in the city. Most common goods can be found here. This is also one of the few places where all levels of citizens can be found in one place. When traveling from the Gate Ward to the Entertainment Ward, you must travel across the bridge.
There is a City Guard post of each end of the bridge. They can be closed but it happens rarely. They are not typically closed even at night. The guards at the gate are supposed to keep an eye out as people pass through. They typically do not even check papers, unless they see something weird. They are mainly there as a deterrent. They do respond to whistles and other calls on the bridge.
The center of the bridge contains huge water gates that can be closed to force water around the citadel. Smaller gates must be opened before these gates are closed. Those gates open tunnels that redirect water around the citadel, and it dumps the flow on the south end of town. This was constructed so that the gates under the main citadel can be easily cleaned and maintained. This system has worked for several thousand years.
