Barick

Barick was an enlisted soldier in the Raamian army, serving as a combat medic in the Black Talon Regiment. On his second assignment with the BTR, the troops were sent to quash a small tribal encampment where a snake-reader was foretelling the fall of Raam. The troops easily dispatched the poorly armed and outnumbered tribesmen and while they were tying the snake-reader to a post, upon which he would be immolated, a small silver serpent slithered out from the Seer’s hut and bit Barick on the ankle.

He dispatched the snake with his club and tried to tend the wound, but the venom spread quickly; and with it came fevered dreams and icy chills which led far into the night. Captain Quarn ordered his men to leave Barick behind as the soldiers returned to Raam. For days Barick suffered in extreme agony and delirium before finally awaking on the fourth day and feeling utterly reborn.

As he reached for his black army cloak, Barick suddenly knew that he wasn’t going to return to Raam, instead feeling a pull to the north. He arrived in One Stone almost a decade ago, and he promptly set up shop as a Physicker, accepting little or no payment for his ministrations. What coin he does get he spends in the Dragon Head Tavern on Ale and Dice. While on the outside he is friendly and carefree, he is haunted by the visions that plagued him during those fevered nights following the snakebite. And, while for the moment he has laid down his maul and armor, he still keeps them close at hand, for he knows they will be needed again soon.

He will be known to the party as a neighborhood doctor who is often found passed out in a corner of the Dragon Head Tavern – or in the alley behind it.

His is big and tall, with a bald head and a big laugh, and a tattoo of a black talon on his right shoulder, the only reminder of his past life.
