The end of the Slavers as we know them 17JUL21

JUL/21

The eyes of doom:

Another group of undead climbed from the pit. The pulsing red light, back lighting them as they climbed out. The eyes of the great statue of Set pulsed with the same red flash. Oni clung to the back side of the statue. Mar’iya moved up to his right trying to fend off some of the undead. The rest of the group surrounded themselves in piles of undead bodies. They were holding their own, but it would not last forever. David was working through the crowds of undead with his mental circle of blades.

Oni swung his staff out and brought it back into himself. The skull and eye were between him and the staff. One of the eyes shattered, raining gem dust upon the room. Oni had a short-lived smile as it was clear he did not stop the pulse. Mar’iya looked up and popped to stand on the statue next to Oni. A new round of creatures climbed again from the pit. The two of them worked on breaking the second eye. This one drew power from the destruction of the first. The battle started to shift as the room filled with creatures.

This time it was Mar’iya that smashed the eye gem. With the eye dust sprinkling down around the room, the pulse stopped. The pit looked to have a floor. May’iya grinned at Oni. Oni smiled back, did a kip pup off the back wall, and landed in the middle of the fight. He held his breath waiting to see if more undead would enter the room. He and the group had to wait. This would decide if they stayed in this fight or dashed from the room, only hoping the creature would not follow them. The moment came and left, without any new undead. They stayed to finish the ones still in the room.

Oni took his new connection with Lathander and checked his companions. Most were tired but okay. He looked over to Arnia. She was beyond healing. The undead had stripped her of life during the battle. Only rest would help her. Oni looked done the hall. He wanted to continue. Arnia would not make it if they did. Oni rested his hand on the wall, letting out his breath in a slow controlled manner, “Lathandar, let the rest be enough and by your grace, safe.” Oni turned to his companions, “we need rest. We must try.”

Oni placed a matt on the floor to try and rest a little. David called him over to look at the writings on the wall. Oni went over to see what David was seeing. Mar’iya not needing any rest moved into watch mode. He moved to the edge of the room so he could stare at the door at the far end of the hall. Arnia sat down, resting her back upon the wall. She was breathing hard, trying to find her inner strength. Silently words of prayer touched her lips.

Arnia was feeling better. Oni walked over to look over her wounds. She had been able to call on Lathander and heal herself. She was in a better state. Mar’iya headed down the hall to the door. He started to listen for noises. Oni came close but stood in an alcove. It was a strange alcove and looked like a perfect place for a hidden door like the one on the other side of the room, “No hidden room here.” Mar’iya jerked his head off the door, “I am trying to listen.” David walked over to where Oni was standing and examined the door, “Yep no hidden door.” Oni looked at him in shock, “you did not trust me. I just told you there was no door.” A little frustrated Mar’iya came over and examined to wall too, “no secret door here.” Oni blew up, “I told you both there was no door.”

Oni paced out a little and looked at the door, “did you hear anything?” In a quick gesture he moved his hand up to his ear, “or do I need to verify your work too.” Mar’iya in his normal stoic manner, bowed a little, “I did hear what sounds like gibberish from about four things. I am guessing goblins.” He waved his hand to the door, “but if you would like to double check my work, please do.” Oni shoved David and Mar’iya out of the way, “no, I am fine. Open the fangin thing and let’s move on.”

Mar’iya opened the door. Four goblins in mining gear looked up in shock. Oni charged in to attack them and draw their attacks, “remember to conserve your power.” It would be fantastic to tell you about the amazing battle. Sadly, the goblins were so out matched they died without any fan fair. No one mourns these minor densa’s to the dungeon. Mar’iya and David went to examine the tunnel they were building. They found that the tunnels connected a storage room or ended into nothing. Oni looked over to David and Mar’iya, “do I need to check to see if there is a secret door.”

David in his impatient self, charged into the storage room. A group of hairy humanoids held the room. These guys were a harder fight, but they found themselves dead quickly. The group started to move around the room and search the creates. They were mostly full of mining gear. Everyone gabbed something from the boxes. That was when it all changed. The entire room and hall beyond came alive with noise. This area had a magical alarm and the party just set it off. They all looked at each other as no one could decide who had set it off.

The alarming hall had three doors. The group went into the first on the north wall. Mar’iya listened at the door but with the alarm was not sure if he could hear anything. Oni wanted to make some joke about it but with the alarm, knew it would not sound funny. A serious look dropped over him. With the door open a small library was revealed beyond. On the table rested a crystal ball. Oni concentrated and started to detect magic. He saw a couple of magical scrolls, but nothing else in the room was magical, including the crystal ball.

Mar’yia and David had great interest in the crystal ball. Oni smirked a little, “it is not magical… there are a couple of scrolls though.” David and Mar’yia continued to examine the ball. Oni stepped to the shelves and started to look at the books, “I know you do not believe me, but the ball in normal.” The books looked to be more ledgers. They were slave ledgers. Oni still saw them playing with the ball. David was even connecting to it, to see its past. Oni huffed, “I said it is not magical.” Mar’iya looked over to him, “I believe you, but I might be able to use the crystal from the ball.” Mar’iya huffed back, “you know for our little project.”

With the alarm still ringing, the group moved to the south door. Oni’could not think with the pulsing of the alarm. He should have shifted to not be in the path of the open door, but he placed himself poorly. The door opened. Green skinned elves had been readied inside the room. The alarm had told them all they needed to know. Arrows came flying out. Oni was stuck in the side. Poison rushed into his body. He dropped paralyzed to the floor.

Oni could move again. Arnia was standing over him. She and her connection with the new gods had healed Oni. He was now better and looking for a little payback. David was in the center of the room. Oni rushed in to help him. David was holding the group at bay. Large spiders crawled along the ceiling. They attacked the group. they were being controlled or trained as they attacked the party. It was looking okay when a green creature stepped into the room from a back hall. She was able to heal all her men. This turned the battle against them. At one point in the battle several people were down and unconscious. It was looking grim, the green witch from the back room healed her guards two times. It took the last of her main power. As we healed each other, the battle finally turned in their favor.

With the last of the green guard dying throughout the room, Mar’iya and Oni charged back into a back room. The green waited for them. As Mar’iya pushed into the room, she set off a trap. A net dropped over the two of them. Oni stepped to the right and Mar’iya stepped to the left. The trap missed both of them. The green witch looked mostly shocked as they killed her in her own private room.
