The mending spell works as written. Lodestones are part metal and very difficult to find or come by. The spell can be cast and used with inferior components. In this world Obsidian is a common replacement to the lodestones. Using this inferior stone makes the casting time much longer. It moves the 1-minute casting time to 1 hour.
