Cowards Hide Behind Walls of Force

Oni marched across a bridge. He was making sure all his senses were tuned. He looked up the hill and two sets of steps. The Thir-king was there with four people around him. Oni knew that he would not be this alone. This battlefield of the kings choosing would have more unseen combatants. Some of the unseen combatants started to expose themselves mixed within the group. One made the mistake of moving into David’s blades killing itself. Oni was setting to charge to place himself in harm’s way, when a flock of flying horses dropped friends. Oni knew most of them as Wink, Niki, Pakku, Richeut and one other young human dropped to the ground. Oni worried about them. When he met them earlier, and he did not think they were ready for this battle. They were going to die in Oni’s own sphere of death that surrounded him. The water formed up next to him as he could see the water itself shape into Rain. Oni silently cursed the gods.

He continued to move forward alone. His group stalled behind him to deal with a small number of the Thir-kings minions. The ones around the Thir-king started to create fire creatures just like Ixen. They floated down the stairs setting small fires as they went. The earth shock as fiery rocks slammed into the ground around Oni. He focused on old teachings from master Ippi as he stepped through and away from all the fire around him. He was able to shrug off the worst of the danger. Never turning he just continued ever forward, drawing the worst of the danger to himself. He could draw it in and save those around him.

All of Oni’s training from Master Ippi flowed through him. Teaches he had nearly forgotten came to his foreground. Thoughts of his master felt like an armor coving him. These elves could not touch him as he moved through them. He moved up to stun some of the dark elves. They just stood there as fire sprang from his fingers and cooked the elves where they stood. Oni looked up knowing the fire creatures would be a different story. They would burn him. He Yelled, “get the fire beasts.”

His old friend Rain, that was now pure water moved up to attack the fire elementals. It was elemental verses elemental. It looked bad for Rain. All the creatures centered their attack on him. He took the brunt of the attacks Oni moved up to handle. The Elementals started to wink out. Oni and his companions discovered that taking empaths out of the fight also removed fire beasts. Oni and others changed their attacks. Just when Rain looked like he was going to puddle on the ground a healing pulse came from his body, and he stood strong once again. Wounds healed across the battlefield. Rain was able to do a second pulse before falling into a puddle in the upper area of the fight.

Most of the minions were gone. The Thir-king only had two poison launching dark elves at his side. Oni was the first to move up and ran into some invisible force around them. A little smirk of a smile curled up on the sides of the kings mouth. Oni debated using his over confidence to bring out, but this vampiric beast would not be fooled into coming out. Not today, not ever. The only hope was pure force. Oni started to draw in his power so he could bring all his force to the wall. ….
