Mordred Plains

Town

The land owned by the Mordred family accurately fits the settlements name, the Mordred Plains. Acres of useful land stretches around the clustered buildings of the settlement. Lush grasslands and healthy fields of grain are scattered across its large, undulating landscape of gentle hills.

The silhouette of the settlement is unusual, the tallest structures are a series of broad, round towers with shallow, pointed roofs. Some of these towers have the tell tale cross of a windmill while others do not. They sit evenly spread across the plains but not in anyway connected to a larger structure like a castle.

The largest structure at the centre of the settlement is a giant palisade of almost full height tree trunks. It stretches a half mile in diameter, surrounding most of the towns' buildings. The palisade is so tall that the tops of these buildings can barely be seen breaching its peak. A large longhouse sits proud upon an artificial hill built at the centre of the defended area, clearly the home of Lord Torma Mordred

There are many buildings outside of the main defenses, varying wildly in size and shape, some are great barns or stables, while others are humble homes for the majority populace of farmers.

The towers not sporting the blades of a windmill are in fact still mills, but instead have large wooden wheels on their exterior that are turned by oxen. They vary in design, some have harnesses around a cogged tree trunk that turns in the ground, shifting an axel that powers the mechanics within a tower. Others are like giant water wheels that host oxen within, turning as they move forward.

The mordred plains are one of the most productive sights of agriculture in the Guradam Kingdom with huge exports in grain, beef and dairy product.
