Session 29

Session Log
November 21, 2021

The element stone glows a pale blue as an ancient scripture begins to flow forth. A huge draft shoots through the barracks of the Faunar Watchtower and all torches nearly snuff out.

Strong winds begin to circle the stone as four small air elementals are summoned and begin causing havoc. Knillback is on the floor continuing his magical incantation and everyone else draws weapons.

The elementals run through the party hurling them into the air as they collide with walls and ceilings.

Iravius and Fenris each almost fall out of the watchtower through the damaged latrine that joins the corridor. Fenris acted quickly to hurl his rope down for Iravius to climb before later being thrown down himself, grabbing a broken plank that was going to give way any moment. Fenris pulled himself up through sheer might as the melee continued.

Mornington and Edward were both downed during the course of the fight and Artax took a lashing from the elementals.

The party decided that they had to slay Knillback to stop the magic persisting, and as further elementals were being summoned they acted quickly.

Once the elementals were destroyed and returned to their plane of origin, Edward noticed the arcane text flowing from the element stone and identified the energy types held within the stone.

Iravius hints to the party that more stones in the kingdom have been found and they are still trying to piece together their purpose.

The party give additional instructions to the garrison to seal up the element stone for the time being until they return. They take a short rest to heal their wounds before taking off for the return journey to Fisherman's Folly as instructed by the delivered message. They take the three horses that previously drew wagon and cart, and made off with haste.

Making it to Fisherman's Folly in good time, they start to see the urgency of their summoning. As they cross the bridge over the Stonepool River they can see that it has almost run dry. Just miles of damp river bed exposed, the local peasants stood there in shock, empty pails in hand.

Warner Kilner approaches on horseback and informs the party that not only has the river dried up, but they have lost contact with soldiers sent to the Village of the Dancing Fish , with scouts failing to report back for three days now.

The party decide to follow the river as this is a sure way to find the source of the problem, as well as investigate what has happened at the village. Not needing the horses any longer due to rough terrain and keeping a lower profile, Warner takes the horses and promises to keep them at the Hooves and Carter.

The party set off north, with the sun high in the sky, ready to traverse the wilderness.
