The party disembark from their ship onto the riverbank. Mornington takes out the small wooden box and uses the command word to pack it away. If folds up into extra dimensional space and the shrunken components all zip forth into the confines of the box.
The sky is actually growing dark for the first time since they set foot in the Feywild and the sky displays an array of beautiful colours. The ever present orange glow of the second sun smatters some of the clouds above from beyond the western mountains.
The party head towards Exile's Henge, Vix promising that their woes are nearly at an end. They notice a breeze low to the ground before they cross a strange wind current travelling through the rolling hills. The air current starts to glow blue and it becomes clear that it runs a large perimeter around the village they are approaching.
Suddenly, incoming fire! An arrow whistles over head, narrowly missing Edward. The sound of thundering hooves and war cries echo in the distance. The party split up, desperately trying to find cover. Crom sprints for a thicket of trees, Edward takes shelter behind a single thick trunked tree and Amarion heads for an outcropping of rocks. Meanwhile Mornington and Vix drop to the ground in surrender, Mornington doing his best to shout out that they mean no harm. More incoming fire, the party now sheltered but unable to see their assailant. Edward's Familiar Artax flies to the top of the tree and spots a herd of Centaur approaching as well as a solitary Satyr with a large bow stood upon a distant hill. Edward steps out from behind the tree and an arrow immediately slices through his side and almost hits Mornington as it continues its path. Edward joins Mornington in shouting that they come in peace. A second arrow flies toward Edward, he feels a gust of wind and then magically the arrow stops in front of him, inches from his throat. The distant figure on the hill quickly approaches, incredibly quickly! His silhouette growing from a speck on the horizon to an 8ft tall satyr right in front of Edward in a few short moments. He grabs the arrow floating in front of Edward, grabs Edward also, and presses the arrow to his throat, taking him hostage.
The satyr in a calming voice commands the others to approach with their hands raised. All do but Amarion, and soon the herd of centaur arrive, surrounding the party, kicking up dirt with their hooves. The satyr introduces himself as Reot Windwalker, Warden of the Exiled, and after a short introduction of Vix and the others he releases Edward from his grip. Reot dashes in a gust of wind over to where Amarion still hides, and asks if he could join them. He does, reluctantly.
A discussion occurs, explaining the party's intentions, their moral standing and the conditions for them to enter the village. Reot is convinced that they can be trusted and although the party are planar outsiders, if they follow the simple rules of respect to those in the settlement they may pass through with no issue.
They are guided back to the henge and given a brief history of the place and its people. A very diverse range of races occupy the village; satyr, centaur, dryad, sprite, pixie, boggle, hag, gnome. Almost all are welcome, as long as an exile does not mistreat another exile. The party start to notice that Reot has runic carvings on his skin and horns that glow faintly with magical energy. Mornington recalls that Zorok Demon-born had utilised this form of power in his conquests across West Guradam. The centaur depart as Reot and the party enter the village. The adventurers start to notice the jumbled mess of buildings that make up the settlement, more closely resembling a chaotic campsite than an established village in their world.
Arriving at the centre of the village, stood in the presence of the moss covered stone henge, they notice a crowd has gathered, curiosity rising over the outsiders. Within the henge are three stalls selling wares, a centaur blacksmith, a gnome potion merchant and a hag with wonderous items. Close by, steam rises from the The Bathing Pools and on the opposing side of the hill is the Woven Warren, the largest building of the settlement.
Reot welcomes the party to Exile's Henge, informs them where to find him, and then takes his leave. Amarion paces to catch up with Reot, he has more questions about the balance of magic in the world and if there is anything to learn from events occurring in this parallel plane. Edward meets Heedril, an eccentric gnome potion seller and acquires a few potions and Quaal's feather token of the bird. Mornington and Crom visit the bathing pools, where they find a number of villagers bathing and helping to clean one another, all while singing songs of merriment. Mornington joins but Crom decides to seek out the blacksmith instead.
Amarion follows Reot to a thicket of very tall trees, a huge bipedal creature emerges, seemingly made of drift wood. Reot explains that this is Drowned Root an Ent from the southern marshland. Although a cataclysmic event occurred recently that shattered the land and tainted those that live there. Drowned Root can no longer be sated from water and must paradoxically be dried by the winds to stay alive. It is covered in purple blotches and Reot uses his magic to summon a controlled windstorm around the ent and the afflicted areas of its body shrink, relieving the creature. After further questioning, Reot tells Amarion that he has been studying a site of primordial magic for his rune grafting. Over the last few centuries he has visited a site across the river, atop the windswept hills where primordial runes float in the air. Reot believes that a similar site becoming unstable has caused the collapse in the southern marshes.
Edward moves on from Heedril's stall, bewildered by the gnome's verbal ticks and heads for the blacksmith. There he sees Crom greeted by the centaur Erasotus and the three discuss his wares. Crom purchases himself a Hew Axe and commissions a wooden shield to be made.
A pixie turns up at the bathing pools and recognises Mornington, it rushes over but cannot speak common, a sprite helping run the bathing pool acts as a translator. The Pixie is called Pimlin, she explains how she was thrust into the Material Plane through some portal mishap when her home, a sacred tree to the west, was destroyed. She eventually found her way back to the Feywild, in part due to the help of Artax, Fenris, Mornington and Edward. However, without a home to return to, she ended up staying here, at Exile's Henge.
Amarion and Reot head back to the village, Reot heads to the bathing pool while Amarion to the centre. Edward is beckoned over by the small hag lady on the third stall.
"You seem to always be haggling for the best deals, well what if I told you I have deals for you that you would seldom believe..."
