An area of badlands in southeast Faerûn. A kenku-dominated wasteland known for its hostility towards outsiders, it was feared even among the other inhabitants of the Beastlands in the late 14th century DR.
It was a land of fractured plains and desolate canyons. It lay between the monster realms of the Beastlands.
The kenkus of Blackfeather Barrens mercilessly attacked all trespassers.
The lands where Durpar, Estagund and Veldorn meet are known as the Blackfeather Barrens, for they are rocky wastelands home to many kenku. While they were never friendly to outsiders before, the kenku of the Blackfeather Barrens have grown more aggressive in recent years, killing any nonkenku who steps foot in their land. Some claim this is a result of their numbers expanding so rapidly in the past decade, while others claim it is the result of rakshasa manipulation.
