6 - Maullar

Spanish: maullar

[FOLLOWING BLOOD INTRO]

You all meet up with Prince Nicholas at the gates of town, and he leads you to Hajim's Sailing Goats where he shows you a section of a pasture that has been closed off from the goats. There is one trail of blood coming from the closed off area that lead into the nearby forest. (Northeast). [a lot of the fence has been replaced and there are patches of turned dirt leading to the forest, both evidence of covering up the murders of more goats.]

What would you like to do?

[FROM HELMFIELD]

You all walk down the path, and you get to the swath of forest that you saw the cats in. It's approximately a 3 day travel from Helmfield. You walk to where your camp was, now what would you like to do?

[FINDING TOWN]

You are able to pull apart some branches and continue tracking up until you reach a small outpost standing in a small clearing in the trees, however clearing is an odd way to put it. There aren't any trees in this outpost, but the few buildings that there are have all sorts of vegetation on them. Vines and creeping charlie flowers climb up structures, through door frames, and around broken glass into windows. It's easy to tell that this outpost has been long abandoned, and is clearly in a ruined state. However, you don't see any cats just from glancing around the outpost. Near the entrance there is a watchtower that is about 4 stories tall, and a couple of clusters of small buildings. Collectively there are 10 buildings, not including the watchtower, and all of them are positively overrun with vegetation. What would you like to do?

[The children need to roll investigation to start finding kitties]

[once they find a cat, it will run off and they will be confronted by Zamur Snowcrag (AA). He will adress them from atop the watch tower at the front of the outpost [scar like voice]].

You see the cat run out of view as another one appears. A sphinx cat with a chain mail hood, helmet, and small plate body armour hops atop the supports between the legs of the watchtower. This cat is still the size of a housecat, but he looks down at you from his perch and says,

"What brings you travelers to Maullar? I'm afraid we don't get many visitors here." As he talks though, you find that his mouth is not moving. [helmet hides chin gem]

 

WHAT DO THE CATS KNOW ABOUT THEIR GEMS/Edmus Sablefane?

  • all were kidnapped or killed at some point in time
  • remember being in the ash, and then being ripped from it
  • all woke up in the body of a cat
    • in a laboratory
    • saw a man they call "The Ragged Ram"
  • Zamur led an escape, in which they stole armour they would presume was for them and got out
    • They saw a room full of gems on their way out, but nothing else

 

GOAT HELMFIELD
  • need to kill goats
    • not enough smaller prey in the forest to support them
  • do not want to become pets
    • we are people, not common housecats
  • we need to kill goats to feed ourselves
  • if we are forced to scavenge in the capital we will die
  • we watched you to see if you were a threat
  • many people have tried to hunt us down
    • we have killed them
    • for our gems, for our speaking abilities, to turn a coin with us, etc
  • no clue nor anything to do with the slaughter of helmfield
  • heard clanging from further north east of them, and saw big red mechs going west, and a bit south
