11 - The Trial Of Dench

You arrive back in Ramsped with Nicholas Holloway and as soon as you re-enter the town you are all flanked by guards. Four of which, the most adorned few, surround the Prince in the same formation you originally saw them in when you first met Nicholas. However the vast majority surround you, Dench, not closely nor are they grabbing you, but one of them says, "Dench, by the decree of the court you are to appear at once in the legal chambers."

RULES OF THE TRIAL (OOC):

Due to the fact that magic exists in this world, the concept of a modern day trial is somewhat obsolete. With spells such as zone of truth or detect thoughts, it's pointless to have a courtroom hearing like we would in today's era. So, courts function a little differently. Dench, you are going to be the one and only piece of evidence. You will sit in a chair, and the attorneys from both sides will ask you questions. Be aware that your testimony can very well be monitored or probed with a number of spells at any given moment, so choose your words carefully. However, this trial would be unfun if I decided your fate. I do that enough already.

So instead we're going to pull something from 4th edition. As shitty as it may be, it had this feature called a skill challenge. There are a set number of successes needed to be deemed innocent, and a set number of failures needed to be deemed guilty. I'm going to ask you questions, you're going to answer, and your answer might lead me to mark a success or a failure. Get enough of either and the trial will be concluded. Everyone understand?

If they get to this point without a tower falling, the judge will call the court adjourned, as she has seen everything she needs to see to make a decision.

 

IF GUILTY:

Give ultimatum. Either spend life in prison (have to make a new charachter) or go hunt down an enemy of the kingdom. 12 - The Ultimatum

IF INNOCENT:

If innocent, continue with the plot as normal, onto 13 - Smoke and Fire
