One afternoon in the newly opened Lost & Found agency a note was delivered. A simple sheet of paper, just stating: “Help. Urgent. Chance.” Three of the newly hired inquisitives: Tantan the kobold, Chompy Guardsman the dhampir and Sora Zelkah, the Bugbear, decided to follow the call for help into the gambling halls of Chance. But not before stopping at “Bertram and Minzis Grilled Goods” to get some meaty breakfast. There they met Rene Goldfrond, a talenta halfling woman who begged them to search for her lost fastieth, Drifter, who vanished overnight. Left was only a note stating: “You aren’t welcome in Sharn. You know too much. In fact, give us what you know. Send the letters to the Deathsgate House Orien office in an anonymous package. Once they’re received, you’ll get the lizard back. If you don’t, then it’s on the next ship along the Dagger River to an aristocrat’s zoo. You have until dawn.” The inquisitives were given the key to Rene’s room and the cryptic clue that one Iago d’Jorasco might be to blame. In the inn “Sunny Gardens” in Little Plains the crew split: investigating the room (finding some fake blueprints), asking the other guests (noting a skycoach with flames had parked outside that night) and eating a bunch. After a heavy lunch the detectives bribed some soldiers to get unseen into the Deathgate Jorasco enclave and broke into Iago’s office and found a hidden safe behind a pictuer of him, his husband and their two kids. After securing a letter that stated: “Okay, cousin, I'll take care of the lizard. You owe me. If it tears up my warehouse, you'll owe me double. I know you wanted to keep your hands clean of this, so consider it done. An Orien messenger will deliver your stupid letters in the morning.” The gang deduced where this wearhouse, run by the Boroma Clan, was located and threw some of the halfling guards down the tower to bust the dino out. The boss of the operation managed to escape, but Drifter was safely returned to the client, who promised to send money, as soon as she was back home.
The name of the halfling woman or who was behind it, was never discovered.
