Some Dark Elf brought an item crafted with blasphemous magic, one crafted from the blood and souls of thousands, and the spirit listened and understood this item should not exist. The spirit took upon himself to neutralize this magic, yet he found himself too weak.
The Spirit now lays upon its side, powerless and slowly dying, inside of its crystal while the waters of his temple turned into an oily black liquid covered with violet iridensence. as the evil magic was escaping, tainting the area around him.
The Spirit told the party of a ritual that can be performed with holy water vessels to purify the water, but it is too injured to conduct the ritual. If the characters are able to solve the puzzle required to complete the ritual in time, the waters around him are purified and he will regain part of its strength.
The dark magic has severed his connection to Ehlonna and thus sealed his magic. If the spring is cleansed, its water can restore his connection.
