Crushing Spice, Last Light
Description
A bluish-green lichen-like plant with many clusters of tiny leaves and a few hard-shelled seed pods. Found in caves, mostly belowground but sometimes above, primarily in the Hinterlands.
Interactions
None.
Dangers
When wet, direct contact with the roots is corrosive to skin and some thin materials.
Accidental ingestion of the leaves can cause rapid heartbeat, sweating, spatial hallucinations, and claustrophobia.
Medicinal Uses
When introduced to the bloodstream, a remedy from the leaves helps to fend off shock.
Culinary Uses
Especially when ground, the seeds are a highly flavorful spice, too pungent for some but very valuable.
Practical Uses
When the root is combined with alcohols with a narrow range of concentration, the ensuing reaction produces mild heat and a bright pink light that can be directed along a fairly large range. While potentially temporarily blinding, most often this sees use for signaling purposes.
