Reton Carnhold, his divine majesty and father of the The Kingdom, has been king for over 200 years. This has been achieved by his access to life extension technology that the Office of Biology in The Society of the Bond regulates and restricts to the royal family and other notable figures. His father was king before him and he was crowned when merely a child, but he has had some notable achievements during his reign, he brought the north to heel making them sign the Treaty of the North and join The Kingdom.
In those days as propaganda posters showed he was regarded as a great war hero and fearsome king. The north had been raiding and fighting with the House of Trem for generations and king, led his armies against the invaders. Finally, defeating them in an epic battle where he led his troops from the front.
He cannot remove his crown, a technological headpiece especially commissioned from The Society of the Bond, that plugs directly into his brain. It is said that with it he can make calculations at superhuman speeds and pieceve things ordinary mortals cannot. The Society are always making adjustments and updates to this royal marvel of technology. There are many in the Barony of Twain who see this as a direct violation of the Bond. The king is defended by the Society who argue that the bond means balance, they are not there to destroy all tech but to control it and limit its use. If there is to be some tech then who else should have it but the ruler of The Kingdom, the person with the highest responsibilities and therefore greatest need.

In his latest appearances it is rumoured he has taken to wearing a silver veil over his face. There are some who say its out of religious piety others that he is unwell or has some embarrassing blemish or deformity.
