She is originally of the House of Hoten. The marriage was political, sealing the kings alliance with the House and making sure he has access to the energy generated in the desert by their large solar farms. Life extension technology denied to her subjects has enabled her to live over 130 years. Many in The Royal Court regard her with suspicion, especially the king's advisors from The Society of the Bond who worry that she secretly harbours the unorthodox beliefs common in amongst the House of Hoten. She does, at least outwardly, appear to conform to the beliefs of the king and the society, she wears the traditional gold chains of the queen despite them being cumbersome and impractical.
She is not the mother of the king's heirs, that was his second wife who has since died. There is much speculation about how the royal children feel about her and her potential claim to the throne should anything happen to their father.
