Some distance from the coast the House controls some of the most fertile farmland in the Barony of Trem. They also feel they must be prepared from attacks from the north although in the last near century of peace their main citadel at Fren has become more of an agricultural than military centre. The surrounding area is given over to farming crops.

Further into the woodland the Rangers keep herds of Jambalow. The rangers and knights of the House are known to ride some of the fiercest and angriest giant hounds of any of the woodland Houses.

The north has not come this far south for nearly two hundred years, although the troops of the House have fought them on their own lands, standing with the king when they were defeated and made to sign the Treaty of the North. The last time they did come down the Pokan won a great victory.

The Pokan cut the giant trees forrest’s that surround their farmlands in such a way that they could fall down with the force of a simple push. Following this they waited and ultimately crushed the approaching northern column, and destroyed their army of thousands, causing panic in their ranks and sending their troops into disarray. The Pokan still celebrate the victory every summer on the anniversary of the battle. At the festival people wear hats with dead birds on. This is in memory of all the birds that died when the trees were cut down.

The House is also famous for punishing their enemies by hanging them on bladed hooks dangling on chains off the branches of the tallest trees. The victim dies slowly and painfully and rains blood on those below as they writhe on their hooks.
