A tall slender and ancient citadel. It is hard to defend and difficult and expensive to maintain the buildings defensive shields. It may well have served an entirely different purpose in the past but what that was is now lost to the mists of time.
The Kingdom has long had the buffer of Barony of Trem between the aggressive north and the king's lands in Crownhome. As a result Topguard has never had to operate as a military base and makes a rather underwhelming entrance for those merchants and travellers approaching the king's lands from the north.
Today it houses the King's Rangers who unlike the king's men to the south who ride the giant cats of the savannah, ride the giant hounds common to the other woodland Houses.
The Rangers are currently being employed by the order of The Society of the Bond to collect certain plants, roots and herbs. Their accommodation is quite basic as is the accommodation the citadel offers to merchants and travellers.
The citadel also acts as a long term storage for military equipment left over from the war against the north. The lower floors of the citadel are used to house everything from arms to heavy artillery.
The only comfort afford those with better rooms on the higher floors is that many of those rooms come with a built in network portal, something common in the rest of Crownhome.
