Headcrown maybe the capital but King Reton Carnhold prefers to spend his plentiful time in this highly secure and remote mountain citadel of extraordinary size.
It is seated on top of the largest mountain range in The Kingdom and would be near impossible to lay siege to using available and legal technology.
Part fortress, part pleasure palace and part administrative centre, jobs in the citadel are highly prized as they place people in the royal orbit. Many houses try and get family members placed in the kings service here in the hopes that it will enable them to seek favours from the king. They are spared the indignity of dressing how the lowest royal servants dress, which is in an all in one bodysuit, with fabric headpiece that obscures the face but is of fine enough material that the wearer can see through it. The colours of the suits denote the different roles of the servants, whether they are messengers, scribes aids or kitchen boys.
Despite the remote location the king insists on eating well and he loves novelty and surprises. This means a large portion of the citadel is given over to hundreds of chefs cooking a experimenting with dishes each day. The best are chosen by the Head of the Kitchens to be displayed before the king.
This draws many merchants who brave the narrow mountain passes to come and sell rare ingredients and a wide variety of cooking appliances which are then utilized in the kitchens in search of a dish that might gain them the favour of the king.
Many also come to the Citadel looking to earn a place in the Royal Guard. These guards are known everywhere by their bright red armour and colossal thick swords wielded with the aid of a engineering rig that increases their strength and forms part of their armour. The most senior members of the guard travel with the king but they have their headquarters here and not in the capital.
