The Saviours of Salvation have another week of downtime in Sharn. Glayder and Isabelle spend it catching up with Arishtava again. Drama ensues when Isabelle feels torn between her feelings for Glayder and desire to not get in the way, despite Ari's clear attraction towards them both and constant insistence that she could never be a third wheel. Glayder storms out halfway through the meeting after dropping Isabelle and Ari off at a fancy restaurant, telling the other two to "enjoy their date", but they stave off the awkwardness by working on the dragonmark recoil mitigation devices some more. Elloven continues to contemplate the evils of society, now with Glayder to keep him company, and helps her with her feelings about this whole love triangle. Meanwhile Khetari and Nimble have been sightseeing peacefully and helping Isabelle test her inventions.
Flamewind summons the group yet again, claiming to have pieced together the "Sky Blue" portion of their Prophecy verse. After another round of scritches from Isabelle, she shows them a newspaper article mentioning a notorious young thief, Sky Blue, committing grand heists all across the richer parts of Sharn. Glayder and Elloven's attention is diverted by another headline that mentions a plague in New Cyre, which House Jorasco healers have been dispatched to deal with, and they wonder if Jinx has been sent there as well.
The sphinx continues: no one knows where Sky Blue hides out, but she believes she's found another Prophecy verse that might help: "When the eyes of the sphinx turn to the sky, the robber steps from her crimson tower in the clouds". This "crimson tower" is most likely an airship beacon above Skyway, which is difficult to reach without flight. Fortunately, she has acquired enough soarsleds for everyone, and gives the group a quick crash course in how to use them, followed by a race around campus to practice.
Isabelle starts out with a very strong lead, but quickly falls behind as a freshman student accidentally shoots a firebolt at her. Elloven briefly steals the lead, only for Khetari to swoop past after Nimble scared off a cat familiar that threatened to slow her progress. In the end, though, Glayder recovers her lost lead with a sudden sprint forwards near the end of the race, allowing her to secure first place after the others have all tired out. Flamewind seems pleased with her performance and offers her a feather token before sending them off in the direction of the airship beacon.
Flying through the thick rainclouds and up towards Skyway, it doesn't take the group long to find the bright red beacon amidst the fancy noble mansions. In the windowed chamber at the top of the tower, they see a dwarf on a soarsled, interrogating a terrified young man about the whereabouts of Sky Blue. Glayder repeatedly threatens the dwarf until she leaves, and the boy dusts himself off and introduces himself as Stormflower, a close friend of Sky who is also searching for her. He shows the party a note Sky left, saying she'd be finishing up some unresolved business before heading to the Mournland to find her missing father, as well as a few maps detailing her planned route.
As they prepare to leave, Isabelle freezes in place, having received a sending spell from Ivelo d'Medani: apparently Irullan Karnach is preparing to leave the city, so if they want to apprehend her, this is their only chance. She briefly contemplates going alone and leaving the others to search for Sky, but remembers this is a powerful necromancer with a horde of undead. The entire group (including Stormflower), deciding this is more time-sensitive than finding Sky, hops on their soarsleds and glides all the way down to the Lower Dura address Ivelo gave Isabelle.
Heading into the alley, they find Ivelo, who points them towards the building and wishes them luck. They spot a zombie loading luggage into a skycoach, and sneak up on it to ambush it before it can meaningfully react. They then enter the apartment building proper, after Isabelle picks a lock on the door, and inside Karnach's flat after Isabelle disarms yet another trap. Inside, they find three more zombies, as well as the necromancer herself, who blasts everyone with a cloudkill spell that nearly takes out Glayder thanks to the warding bond she shares with Isabelle. Argan's core breaks due to this as well, nearly killing him. Elloven dispels this spell by whacking Irullan into unconsciousness, and the group elects to keep her as a captive, fearing she'll just come back if they kill her.
With that out of the way, they take a couple moments to heal up, then head off towards the soup kitchen Sky had planned to visit. Upon arriving, they're confronted by a pair of rat shifters on soarsleds, who immediately ask about Sky Blue's whereabouts. Glayder attempts to lie to throw them off, but fails horrendously, and combat ensues -- scaring off several of the refugees camping here. After one shifter is finished off, a new combatant dashes into the fray: a young girl in aviator's goggles, matching the description of Sky Blue. She's accompanied by Earl the awakened seagull, who helps her aim her attacks as she throws knives at the shifter while doing sick soarsled tricks, but is cornered and nearly taken out.
Stormflower weaves together an invisibility spell to hide Sky, and the remaining shifter is finished off by the group, but even more combatants arrive in pursuit of the thief: a group of five werebats, followed by a couple of orc mercenaries. Even with Sky and Stormflower's help, the odds prove overwhelming, with most of the group low on magic and energy. After one of the orcs lets slip that their boss is Karnach, Elloven mentions that she has already been dealt with, holding up her necklace of adaptation as proof. All of the mercenaries, deciding this job isn't worth it anymore, disengage and flee.
The group spends some time chatting with Sky and Earl, learning about the girl's missing veteran father and the seagull's service as an awakened messenger in the war. Sky seems insistent on heading out to the Mournland to search for her father at all costs, and is hesitant to go talk to someone who may not have her best interests at heart, but Glayder and Elloven convince her that it can wait until after a meeting with Flamewind. Back at Morgrave University, Sky is taken to see the sphinx, who presents her with an amulet and implores the party to keep her safe.
Sky zooms off to make preparations for her journey to the Mournland, while Stormflower secretly invites Khetari to join him in the Circle of Song after noting her bardic talent. With all the answers they came to Sharn in search of, the Saviours of Salvation head off to enjoy the city and relax a little before returning to their namesake outpost.
